Democrats control Capitol Hill

Jim Webb has been declared the winner in Virginia.

That hands control of the Senate to the Democrats, and the Chairmanship of Homeland Security to Joe Lieberman. Senator Dodd should become Chairman of Rules and Administration.

Meanwhile, the Democrats keep piling up more seats in the House.....

Dodd will actually Chair Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, which he is set to take over since Sarbanes has retired. Happy Day!!

MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell interviewed Chris Dodd in the days prior to the election. Their topic was Joe Lieberman, "Chris Dodd's old friend."

Lieberman had been complaining to Don Imus, the cowboy don of MSNBC, that he would have to hire a food tester because Chris Dodd had become like Don Corlione, the gangster.

As they talked Mitchell called Ned Lamont "Nick" Lamont twice. Democrat Dodd said nothing to clarify that she was talking about the Democrat selected by Connecticut voters: NED Lamont.

Dodd's rejection of Lamont until it was too late to make a difference, should be the last straw for Connecticut voters. Next time NED should go after Dodd's seat.

I recall he chaired Banking during the S&L meltdown of the early 1990's...boy that's encouraging

Dodd's behavior illustrated that he's not particularly personally loyal.

Just to clarify anon 7:01...

Lieberman was on Imus, but it was Dodd who was on weeks previous that said "if" Joe wins, when they next meet he might want to bring a food tester. Lieberman said in that same show that he was very disappointed with Dodd and that he would have no problem working through his disappointment "if" he was elected. Yesterday, he said he felt like Don Corleone...you know...the one in the driver's seat...and it looks like that's what he'll be.

You daft people live in some bizzare fantasy I don't and can't understand- Less then 8 PERCENT of CT voters voted for Ned on primary day.

When will you wake up and smell the coffee? The numbers do not lie and if you persist in living in this fantasy YOU WILL LOSE time and time again.

It's interesting that as the senate now stands, we have 49 Republicans, 49 democrats, and 2 independent democrats. I would argue that Bernie Sanders does not count as a swing vote since he has built a solid left-wing record.

That leaves our Senator Joe Lieberman, who will now be the "Anthony Kennedy" of the United States Senate. Its going to be interesting to see what he does with this unique position in the next 2 years.

> Less then 8 PERCENT of CT voters voted for Ned on primary day.

All Democratic voters were eligible to vote in that primary, and all unaffiliateds (like myself) were free to switch to D a few days before to vote in that primary. That's almost 80% of CT voters who were able to vote in the Democratic primary; if not all of them did, your issue is low voter turnout, and not Ned Lamont, the man who got more of those people to turn out for him than Joe Lieberman did.

Your minority vote argument only makes sense if you believe Lieberman shouldn't be elected because less than 1/3 of CT voters voted for him in the general.

All this talk about Lieberman has the "swing vote" ignores that he votes with the D's about 85% of the time (and yes, even on some important stuff). The real swing votes in this narrow senate are likely to be the two Nelson's and Landrieu.
