Chris,

Note that Waterford was a net gain of 31 for Simmons and has lowered that total once again since you wrote the article.

Disgruntled_Republican-

Thanks for the update and tip, which I'm sure is accurate. Can you do me a favor? Can you find me a link (news, govt site, whatever) that I can link back to on my story? I tried to find something about a Waterbury announcement and couldn't. (I'm from Pennsylvania and I'm not real familiar, as you can understand, with Connecticut recount procedures).

You'll receive full credit for the tip, and if you'd like to provide a quote, please send me one.

Thanks!

some adult commentary for the results of the 5th CD race

It's too damn complicated with too much government but the Democrats listened to JDS and put healthcare on the agenda. Good for them. Let's see if Rell can be a Republican on this. She has no experience in the privat e sector and not much experience outside of being a legislator in the minority so I doubt it. CT's healthcare cost per capita are the highest in the nation; we have more doctors per capita than anyone too not to mention an abiundance of facilities delivering health services; the highest average pay for a professional in the state is that of an OB/Gyn as well even with the med-mal premiums they whine about; but folks still have trouble getting services or so they say. And how did we ever get by without the UCONN Health Center?

bluecoat... do you like the idea of Univ HC? I can't make heads or tails of your post.

I beleive in consumer driven free market health services with the governmant paying for those in need. My comments are about how our "free market" here in CT is screwed up with oversupply becasue of the lobbyists and the wrong kind of government "regulation" that protects the suppliers. Health services to me are a basic need like food and shelter - not a right like free speech!!!!

I have no freaaking idea what UHC is - and neither do those who promote it except that they want somebody to pay other than the consumer. That may be why you can't figure out my post.

bluecoat -
Every time you post that assertion about "oversupply" it doesn't make sense to me. If there were excess supply the price of such services would drop - econ 101, no?

Best I can make out, you are pissed about the fact of lobbyists and their impact on the trade - you appear to be asserting that there are protected markets - is that what you mean?

In your second paragraph at 2:25 you are saying something that comes right out of the left wing playbook, except you insist on using "need" instead of "right".

And I think that basic civil and human rights are intended to be literally equivalent to needs like freedom from violent crime, protection from war, and food and shelter. Don't you agree?

I corrected "Waterbury" to "Waterford" - thanks for the headsup, please remember I'm from out of state...

I'll keep following the recount...

Another Mayor in CT is probably going to
jail. Statistically speaking that is.
