While things are a bit stress-inducing right now, the chance of another error of that significance is probably 15-1 and the chance such an error being in Simmons's favor is 50-50. As a result, Courtney's chances of losing are probably along the lines of 30-1. Think what you want about Simmons, he impresses me as a basically decent guy who will not throw this thing into the courts.

Courtney is looking much better tonight than he did this morning. The associated press as of ten pm has him up by 79 votes. However, Courtney HQ is reporting his lead over Simmons has gone over 100 votes. With about 11 towns left this looks like a done deal for Courtney. Let the new era begin.

Courtney gained a bunch tonight and is in the lead by 100 or so.

Simmons picked up another 31 in Waterford at 9:30 PM (I was one of two Republican unofficial observers) so that puts us back to about 60. With at least 15 towns left to go I'd say that puts this thing within range...

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here...

The numbers in the recount are nutty...

Courtney gained 39 in old lyme
Courtney lost 30 votes in Waterford.

I don't what numbers to believe anymore.

Courtney lost 31 votes in Waterford.

Courtney gained 39 votes in Old lyme.

Colchester reported no differences in the vote total.

In the other towns the vote differences were zero or in a range of 1-3 votes.

As of 2am....Courtney is leading by 75-90 votes. (somewhere in that range)

Here's an idea...wait unitl the Sec of State certifies the recount. That's when we will know when the real winner is.

Does anyone know what type of voting was conducted in the 2nd District and where the mistakes were made?

Lever machines? Paper ballots? New Machines?

It is very unsettling when mistakes seem common in this age of close elections. It is tough enough at times to get people to the polls- and having the sense that their vote may not be properly counted does not help encourage the importance of participation.

BREAKING NEWS: just receiving an acknowledgement from Jodi Rell that it was HIS efforts that saved the subase… Sam Gejdenson picked up 122,000 votes! Oh wait… forgot… he lives in Rosa’s district.

Oh no...not more of that "lives in the district" nonsense.

Check the Consitution, it doesn't matter at all, as long as they live in the state.

(heard enough of that malarky out of know-nothings as it regarded Miriam)
