Open Forum

Two weeks to go.

John Kerry and Bob Kerrey campaigned in state for Ned Lamont and Joe Lieberman respectively.

Simmons is accused of flip-flopping on social security privitization.

Lt. Gov. candidates will debate Friday morning on CT public radio (from 9-10am). Mike Fedele is still an unknown quantity--we know Mary Glassman a lot better. Too bad it's not televised.

Lastly, out of staters are meddling in our U.S. Senate campaign. Again.

What else is going on?

GC - I think every blog page was down, because I tried a bunch of other blogspot sites.

What's going on?

Amy Goodman and Democracy Now! did a full hour today on Greens being excluded from debates across the country. Greens Howie Hawkins, Aaron Dixon and Michael Berg join the League of Women Voters to tell the same story that Cliff Thornton can recite:

http://www.democracynow.org/article.pl?sid=06/10/25/1422220

When will America wake up that the two-party system is corrupt?

If I read Firedoglake enough, I might forget the vote counts for military appropriations bills, like the latest $70 billion funding package for the war. What does it mean when the U.S. Senate passes something 100-0? Democrats are guilty. I also might forget that Democrats founded regime change as the official U.S. policy towards Iraq, enforced genocidal sanctions and the no-fly zone, voted for the worst excesses of the Bush Administration (NCLB, the Patriot Act, the Military Commissions Act of 2006, Alberto Gonzalez, Condi Rice, John Roberts, Samuel Alito, the Higher Education Act of 1997 - recently renewed, etc).

I never liked the writ of Habeas Corpus anyway. Those 800 year old bedrock human rights of Western jurisprudence can be so, well, pesky to a fledgling dictatorship eyeing the crumbling ruins of a once-proud republic.

F*%& the Magna Carta!

And don't forget to see Bill Maher's piece on the The Huffington Post about drug testing library volunteers in North Florida. Very telling about how elderly people refuse to submit to the indignity of a drug-test.

George Soros, the sugar daddy from the left, could eat them all for lunch. Point me to the story on him in the JI. It used to be a well rounded paper, at least in its news section. But someahere on the way to telling it like it is, it got swallowed up by the Democratic Party.

Whats going on?

Six days since Tammy Sun said she would find the journal detailing what was in the $387,000 petty cash disbursements. On Monday she announced she would not be releasing the journal because they don't have to. Why? What's in the journal?

Is the letter of the law being broken or just its spirit?

Don't we desrve to know before we pull a lever?

I look to see Fedele trounce Glassman head up. He is very impressive. Unfortunately, I will be flying and will not be listening. Can someone please record the audio and post it here later? GC? Mods?

This must be the week of the Glassman/DeStefano ticket. First she won't give him any money unless she's the star of the commercial, then she's the one on the debate. Guess they finally figured out who's the stronger of the two on the ticket.

Fedele who was standing in for Rell bugged out of a forum in Bridgeport early while Glassman who showed up on time and DeStefano who showed late hung out after the forum. Great LTE on it in the CT Post today. Screw the cities, this election is about Fedele/Rell and family values.

Yes, can someone please record the audio for this Lt Gov debate & post it?

Regarding the post that Glassman won't give money unless she is in the ad, I believe Connecticut campaign finance law only allows a candidate committee to pay for the portion of the commercial or advertisement that is attributable to their candidate. So in ad where they are both featured equally, her candidate committee would be able to kick in 50% of the cost.

I wonder how big a loan DeStefano took out to be able to be on TV right now...

Regarding that forum in Bridgeport..Fedele was there until 8:25pm. DeStefano came late (8pm) and had Glassman filling in for him until then, but promised to stay late and answer questions. That isn't bugging out in my book...Fedele left 5 minutes early.

A good question for the debate tomorrow is "Why did Mary Glassman make a large donation in 2002 to the campaign fund of John Rowland?"
