Sunday Open Forum

Check out the op-ed I wrote for the Courant--which, surprisingly, is about blogs.

What else is happening today?

Great Op-Ed!

After November 7th It will be great when Jodi Rell is re-elected Governor, Joe Lieberman will still be our US Senator and Chris Murphy will be 5th CD Congressman.

John DeStefano will still be Mayor of New Haven, Ned Lamont will go back to his Cable Empire and Nancy Johnson will retire to New Britain.

It will be a great day for Connecticut Good over evil!!!!

Memo to Murphy Staff: After yesterday's debate with Nancy Johnson, I guess the Murphy folks will need to stop the whisper campaign about her failing health. But I am sure they'll be back with another rumor. Murphy can't win on issues and now we see he can't win debates

> Blue Turned Red: he'll be lucky to get even 40% of the vote.

You don't seriously believe that, do you? I mean, I know it makes you feel better to say it; it would make me feel better to say that Lamont will win by 60% or more, but I don't because that's simply not based in reality.

Anyone who wants to wager that Lamont will get less than 40%, you've got a bet; I could use the easy money. I'll also take any bets against The Harlem Globetrotters or Rocky Balboa. Come on hardcore Republicans, there's a little Alan Schlesinger in all of you.

I rarely comment here, but I just wanted to compliment you on the excellent op-ed. Great job!

Chris Jones for the 21st Senate was endorsed by the New York Times. Besides that his campaign appears to be on track.
They believe they may pull off an upset victory over Debicella.

Thanks, Spazeboy! Thanks, Aldon!

It's nice to get into other media from time to time.

Anon 4:29- because you're on another planet... Chris Jones is going to lose. the NYTimes endorsement means nothing. Debicella has had signs up since what seems to be memorial day and Jones has practically none. Jones has sent one mailer, Debicella about 10, he's been on tv a month and has been everywhere. With every debate that goes by you feel sorry for Jones, because he looks foolish. You must be Chris Jones or his fool campaign manager, because nobody here or in the district thinks he's going to win. Quite frankly he knows he's going to lose.

To someone who has only a hammer, the whole world looks like a nail.

Arrghhh...

You know, I had a uncle once who thought longhairs were pretty much Earthen scum, muddle people with petered-out principles, one, two, three. That is, until he knew someone (like myself), for which he carved out an exceptional notch, finding redaction in our social intercourse.

So easy yet to find a net,
That slips the inner conduit,
And simple fry can 'scape anigh
Another time be in our way.

A "political" blog is like the star behind the star, the beat-up Corvair in the demolition derby of our social quest to reverse the polarity of the neutron flow.

Who?

it's too bad that Debicella is part of the Lauetti team. A team that is under federal investigation. Word has it, the story is breaking within the next 2 weeks.

Congrats to Chris on the NYT endorsement-- definitely a positive, but not something that will turn the campaign around in and of itself.

As I've said before, the key issue is money. If Jones has as much cash on hand as Debicella, he has a shot. If not, then I don't see how he pulls it off. (Anon 6:45, though obnoxious, is right. Debicella has had signs up for a long time, is on TV, and has many more mailers than Jones).

To the Jones campaign-- don't pin your hopes on some FBI investigation about someone who isn't your opponent. That's a foolish strategy. Why not instead work in the next three weeks to get better known in Stratford-- a town you must win if you have any hope of winning the race.

Just my humble opinion. But honestly I have given up on Jones. I have not been impressed. (But Dave Mooney is our bright spot-- he is working hard against a do-nothing incumbent and is going to win!)

Anon 9:10 this is anon 4:29. I can verify what you said.
You said it first but the cat is out of the bag now. I alluded to this months ago but now crappola will hit the fan big time. Anon 6:45 hold on to your seat it is gonna be one hell of a ride. Debicella may not be
guilty but he is associted with this crap. Yikes! Poor Shelton.

When others besides me are posting this
then something is most certainly going on with a
federal investigation in Shelton. Hey no surprise
some of it has been in the paper. Debicella
is an ok guy buy he will be caught up in it. If Debicella wins it will be a huge hangover for the voters
Forget shady blasting permits something else if goin on. Whew!

All I know is Debicella voted to raise taxes when he was on that taxation board in Shelton. I go what a person did not what he says he is going to do. I don't know about Jones but Debicella i am not inclined to vote for. Jones was ok on the environment debate about not expanding expanding the airport so I will see

Ha ha. Debicella somehow thought there
was another Chris Jones press conference
he could break up but it was all a scam.
Debicella was tipped of by his informant
who received false info and Debicella was caught walking around aimlessly waiting for an imaginary press conference to begin. Ha ha.

Ohh Stratford Dem your responses are
always so predictable about the Jones
Debicella race. Say something original.

Anonymous said...

My posts are predictable, but unfortunately true.

Also, the four preceding annonymous posts are all from the same person. Probably Chris Jones.

Chris-- please go campaign rather than read this blog. Thankfully we still control the rest of Connecticut.

Probate Judge candidate Evelyn Daly in Farmington has taken over 40% of her contributions this period from out of state sources. That's absurd.

Thecitizen said...

Blue Turned Red you have to be in dream world to think that Ned Lamont only gets 40% of the vote if that.

Again from a form Democrat turned Republican I guess I would expect that kind of comment.

Ned Lamont will win this election and Lieberman will fail in all three debates to convince voters he's a Democrat since in truth he's a Bush Republican.

He will join the Blue Turned Red Party after he loses.

For all his bluster on this blog, Jones is not going to get personally nasty in his state senate campaign. Here is why:

1) Jones was addicted to cocaine a few years ago.
2) The Republicans know this, and have people ready to come forward who knew Jones during that time.
3) Jones knows the Republicans know this.

Put it all together, and you get idle chatter on a blog (including this post!), rather than a nasty campaign with headlines.

Anonymous said...

Whatever Anon 12:55AM.

Stop being nasty. Jones is a great guy and is running a clean campaign. I just hope he has the money to pull this off.

Debicella is married so let's not
get nasty people. Enough said here.
