Okay, so maybe they aren't broke after all

The DeStefano campaign is reporting that they have raised a record $1,066,400 this quarter. Now we know what he's been busy doing for the past two months. I guess everyone was waiting for the primary to be over.

I'll post more numbers as they come out.

And last night he proved he's the only candidate with the intelect to be the Governor of this state that was on the stage in New London.

Does anyone really want Rell in charge if there's a crisis in this state?

Being "nice" is not enough to hold the top office in our state.

Oh, they've probably already spent it all, but they have raised a bunch.

Kudos belong to both DeStef and Malloy for really hitting homeruns this year for Dem gubernatorial fundraising, despite hyper-competitive races for the U.S. Senate and three House seats.

did they send out a press release? how much of it was from glassman?

DeStefano is broke. Look at CFIS (if you can get in), he only paid for his current tv through 9/30, at about $130k/week. If he ran last week and this week at the current pace, given that he's got $63k in unpaid debts, he's flat out of cash.

Bye, bye Johnny.

Rell raised:

1,047,669.07

Spent:

2,361,428.96

Destefano spent over 1 million.

All from CFIS.

Can't wait to see how much of this is from the folks with direct contracts with New Haven!

Damn you Tommy Tutone and CFIS!

Rell has filed but everytime I go to run the report it bombs out..

Game-on Republicans. The primary showed all of us what can be accomplished in one month. Malloy ate away at JDS's 20 point lead. Malloy knocked JDS down 10 points on E-Day alone.

Rell, you are in trouble. Given last nights performance, I would venture a guess that you know how deep it really is. JDS started winning last night. And he won't stop winning until there is no more winning to be had.

Do you mean winning or whining?

which Lt Gov candidate pulled the most $? Glassman of Fedele?

Yes. I meant whinning.

You are so astute. You are clearly not one of the many people on this site who are in desperate need of Pre-K.

You saw right through my outward appearance to my very soul. Anon, you complete me.

I hope Rell now realizes what she is up against and comes in next time with the gloves off. JD will continue to mix negative truths with big lies till he gets enough ignorant and uneducated people to fall for him or Rell desides to expose him for what he realy is. Example: He pointed out how Rell never fired her aid and stated that he "gets rid of his problems". Nothing could be further from the truth; JD appointed a convicted felon to head New Haven's Board of Fire Commissioners. This renowned vote getter in the african americam community was rewarded for his efforts and has since done everything in his power to undermine the fire departments progress since his appointment, including the ousting of two promotional exams. JD does NOT get rid of his problems, HE HIRES THEM!

Game over, Yogster. I mean, come on, I know that's what you labor-funded imports tell the local yokels to keep 'em fired up, but you gotta know better than to actually believe yourself.

Four weeks to go, 33 points down, broker than broke and a candidate most people in his own party don't like -- and let's not talk about how Mary G feels, wink wink! -- well, enjoy the Greyhound back home ...

That's right, first you get the money, then you dominate Republican Rell in the debate, then you run smart ads, and then you win. The end is near for Rell and Republicans in CT. Nov. 7th, Connecticut bleeds blue.

DeStefa-NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Property Tax!!!!

He is done. It is almost officially a joke.

If JD is a joke, why are the Republicans even paying attention to JD? They are afraid that their big lead is a mirage.

The most fun of the night was my personal debate with none other than Michael Rell. Guess he didn't like my "College Drop-Outs for Rell" sign.

Anyway, Michael tried to set the record straight by telling me how his Momma dropped out of college the first time, in order to start a family.

I wasn't fazed, and pointed out that she had dropped out of college, not once, but twice.

To this, Michael Rell asked me if I had an airline pilot as a father, who was gone for three or four days at a time. I responded "no". (what the heck?)

Then Michael pointed out how his Momma had to be in Hartford much of the time.

I told him it wasn't that big a deal that Jodi was a drop-out, but that everyone in Connecticut deserves to know that she is operating without the benefit of a college education. I mean it's not like we can't understand the difference between being just plain dumb, versus being uneducated.

Anyway, I hope I bump into Michael again. This time I want to bring up one of my pet peeves, namely NEPOTISM.

ADANR,

Bitter much? Don't worry:

When Mayor Malloy gets all his debts paid and tries to run against Diane Farrel for the 4th Congressional Seat, I am sure he will offer you your old job back.

As for being broke, JDS is up on T.V. with Rell. He out-raised her this quarter. I know you remember that JDS also out-raised Malloy, without having to get a $250K loan the week of the election.

Mary Glassman. You infer from pictures that she isn't happy. Well I look at the same pictures and say she is. Fact is, unless you are in a better position than the rest of us to know, she is happy as a clam in the bay.

Your poll numbers are messed up too, buddy. There are a few polls, all of which say different things. The Q has JDS 28 Pts down. ZogbyWSJ has JDS at 16. You remember the primary, right? How you were down by 20 in the Q - ten on Election Day. Well JDS won by what, 2 pts? There you go. You can keep your numbers. I will be searching for admission to JDS E-Day victory party.

As for the members of JDS’s own party, I can rely on yours’ and other Malloy staffer testimony to the value of being totally backed by the party. Your boy won the convention. From what I read, Malloy had all the endorsements, and all the newspapers, yet, JDS still won. Isn't it true, ADANR, that JDS beat your man in every town Malloy won in the convention? I do believe it is true. The Party really helped Malloy, and Lieberman for that matter.

Let me give you some advice, ADANR: The difference between me and you, are our respective candidates we support, or in your case former (and possibly current) employer, is our fear or lack-there-of, of change. I believe JDS will win. If he doesn't, well, there you go. No one expected it to happen anyway. However, I would rather believe in what is possible than be “that person” that is always proclaiming dominion over what is possible. You said, I am sure, that there is no way JDS beats Malloy on August 8th. (Now you probably make excuses for Malloy’s loss.)

In a way, ADANR, your attitude is endemic of the Democratic, nay, the voting public at-large. “Don’t change” you say. The status-quo is nice, eh? “Don’t even try”, you will tell others in your life. Those among us who advocate complacency truly are the enemies of democracy.

It is no small wonder why Democrats don’t win. We hold petty grudges against each other because our candidate doesn’t win (I understand the nature of your employment makes you much more engaged than I am as a volunteer); we play the realist when there is no reason to do so; and, we are stubborn and believe we are right, especially when we are wrong. We saw a great example of this last night when Rell couldn’t find one mistake in her two years as Governor. I have cast my lot with progressives because I believe what you call “impossible” can happen. I have hope. I have faith. And with all my heart I will out-work you and all the other naysayer’s to achieve what you would have others believe is “impossible.”

Did anybody see how fast Rell is burning off her money!!! What is she doing out there? That balloon and rose garden strategy is proving quite costly. Maybe the money is going toward a new mustang for her best bud Rowland. Or maybe it's going out to psychologists that are treating their staff for depression after that whopper of a debate. Either way, it doesn't look good for her.

JD truly does remind me of Grimace from McDonalds...

Anonymous said...

According to the AP story, Rell has already paid for all of her TV through the election. JDS hasn't. He has $300k, owes $50k, and still has to buy all his TV from Sept. 30 to Nov. 7.

Anyone interested in an over/under as to when the first layoff start?

Anonymous said...

"What is she doing out there?"

Probably prepaying for media time that won;t be available the last week of the campaign

Anonymous said...

Maybe MJR is spending her campaign money on her own cigars after all she's not JGR.

Anonymous said...

neither candidate is on pace to match the old Rowland numbers

Jodi paid for her TV in full a month and a half ago... all the way up til Nov 7th...

hahahahahaha Grimace from McDonalds??? CLASSIC!!

The debate, which aired on WTNH-TV, an ABC affiliate, drew 98,295 viewers, the station reported. It had the highest viewership for the Monday, 8-9 p.m. timeslot for the station since Jan. 1.

100,000 viewers isn;t anything extraordinary for a news show in CT

Now, we get American Idol, then we'll get big viewership

Rich Harris needs to teach his candidate how to actually give a direct answer in debates... If Rell doesn't fix this problem then John will win.

Anonymous said...

Are there people out there that think JDS has a shot! Rell could declare war on RI and still beat the mayor of a crime ridden city and blocker of a cancer center in his city for BIG LABOR, by a comfortable margin.

"If Rell doesn't fix this problem then John will win. "

Wow! Cue the violins and the sunrise! (Or is that sunset? With you guys I can never tell.)

When Mayor Malloy gets all his debts paid and tries to run against Diane Farrel for the 4th Congressional Seat ...

If you're going to give a shout-out to your candidates, you might at least want to spell their names right. It's Farrell. Two l's. And who knew Danny Boy was going to run against her? Do you guys eat your young, too?

As for being broke, JDS is up on T.V. with Rell. He out-raised her this quarter.

Check your math, Yogmeister. Last time I looked, $1.1 million beat $1.06 million -- and that was the total with Skippy kicking in, too (before his dismal performance as the handpicked handmaiden of Kevin B. Sullivan and subsequent banishment into "Scott Slifka? Never Heard of Him" Land).

Mary Glassman. ... [S]he is happy as a clam in the bay.

Not the word on the street. And this still doesn't look like a happy clam to me.

Your poll numbers are messed up too, buddy. There are a few polls, all of which say different things.

Well, no. There are polls that say different numbers but all of them say the same thing: JDS is dead as dog sh*t.

Let me give you some advice, ADANR ...

Please, stop. I'm laughing so hard it hurts.

You can keep your numbers. I will be searching for admission to JDS E-Day victory party.

Let me give you some advice, my friend. This is not gonna be a tough ticket.

Rell considers her honorary degrees to be her higher education. Check out her website.

... and George W. Bush *earned* degrees from Yale and Harvard. Clearly, a person's educational backgound speaks little about his or her intelligence and ability to lead.
