I don't think I've ever been devestated by anything relating to railcars...

Jodi Rell seems annoyed.

While I can't believe we just spent almost $4,000 in under 30 seconds, I am feeling pretty good that we were able to put that advertisement up on the air tonite.

This debate, as the CT Greens hold, is not democracy. It is a scripted contest between a two-headed snake.

Beyond that, did Jodi Rell really run an ad right after us that played the grandmother card? Unreal.

She'll deny us our First Amendment rights, but as long as she holds a baby, all is well in the great Nutmeg state? She is playing us as fools, looking to appeal to emotion over reason.

Can't we have more nuanced discussion of issues in this state than whether or not grandparenting makes one eligible to hold the highest elected office in the state?

DeStefano: tax cutter?

Genghis Conn said...

"Do you brand yourselves politicians, and are you proud of it?"

A brilliant and incisive question. Hear, hear.

DeStefano NEVER answers a question directly!!! incredible!!!

Anonymous said...

DeStefano: We can do things.

Genghis Conn said...

A defense of Lisa Moody: "What she did was not against state law." She looks determined tonight, a very different Rell from last week.

Anonymous said...

DeStefano: McMansion...

Anonymous said...

John "Plan is..." DeStefano.

His "plan is" to propose ideas that would never materialize. That plan will lead him right back to the Mayor's office next month. Lost cause Johnny.

Anonymous said...

Both candidates seem pretty positive so far...

Anonymous said...

DeStefano: Governor only words, not actions...

Anonymous said...

DeStefano really does look like Grimace from McDonalds!!

"McMansion", ha!

Genghis Conn said...

Huh, a plan.

Anonymous said...

Rell: worst mistake is not explaining car tax well enough.

My worst mistake is working too hard.

Anonymous said...

Rell talks a lot about Moody, and doesn't actually say anything.

Genghis Conn said...

How did we get to Rowland from here?

Anonymous said...

DeStefano: ROWLAND ERA

Anonymous said...

Universal Health Care = IMPOSSIBLE!!!

Anonymous said...

DeStefano: "get the train cars moving" on universal healthcare. Get the money by closing coroporate loopholes.

Genghis Conn said...

Yeah, the Moody issue is not interesting to most people.

Don't point that knuckle at me, sir!

Anonymous said...

I can't beieve Malloy lost to HIM! WOW.

Anonymous said...

DeStefano: "Rell has raised taxes over and over again".

Genghis Conn said...

ECS--glad she's talking about it.

She has a good point about cars across towns.

Genghis Conn said...

Rell: DeStefano's fuzzy math

Anonymous said...

Rell almost slips and calls DeStefano "gov-"...

Anonymous said...

DeStefano cannot explain his ideas so they make sense. Why can't anyone on his staff who prepare him properly for these debates?? It's all jibber jabber.

THANKS for explaining the car tax Jodi. Again. At least it makes sense though...

Genghis Conn said...

And he isn't disputing that his numbers don't add up. Which they don't.

Genghis Conn said...

Tom Monahan's question, which was "do you plan to reduce the size of state government," is essentially the same as asking "Are you really a Republican?"

Anonymous said...

DeStefano: Rell consistantly stands with "special interests".

Anonymous said...

Doesnt 50 Cent live in CT? Who's he voting for? Or can he not vote because he is a convicted felon...

Anonymous said...

What a ridiculous question about reducing the size of state government. We already know Rell's a Republican.

Genghis Conn said...

Rell is still stumbling and hesitating every now and again, although she's a lot sharper than she was in New London.

Anonymous said...

DeStefano has 25 minutes to state his case. Or else it will continue to be lights out for him.

Has he even secured media for the final 2 weeks?

Anonymous said...

DeStefano: health care and electric utility bills "hidden tax".

Anonymous said...

Rell: SHAME ON HIM!!!

Anonymous said...

NED!!! NED!!! NED!!!

Anonymous said...

First half: DeStefano did a pretty good job at chronicling Rell's failures. Rell did a pretty good job making it clear that she's the Governor.

Genghis Conn said...

Wow, nothing but political ads.

Genghis Conn said...

Dude!

Actually, good question. Gas in MA is darn cheap.

Anonymous said...

hahahah classic guitar!!! go Scott!!

Anonymous said...

DeStefano: "hidden tax"

Anonymous said...

John knows zero about gas, listen to him !

Genghis Conn said...

Zzzz.

Oh, leave Stamford alone.

Genghis Conn said...

Where did we get to Rell not going to Washington from gas being cheaper in Massachusetts?

Anonymous said...

Destefano: Rell "walked away from conservation programs". Governor "needs to provide leadership".

Anonymous said...

Rell: "no federal energy policy". I can agree with that!

Anonymous said...

Rell: "we need to add energy to the conservation fund"

Anonymous said...

Rell: "The Mayor's comments really do come out of my playbook"...

Genghis Conn said...

I don't know. No one really answered the question. Gas is still cheaper in Springfield.

I'm glad there was a guy from Enfield on. Scott: try Stop&Shop! With the coupon and a S&S card, it's almost as cheap as MA!

DeStefano: "Scott, move to Arizona."

Anonymous said...

Bottom Line Scott: Rell by 20 pts.

Anonymous said...

DeStefano: bottom line, "the jobs not getting done"

Anonymous said...

DeStefano: "I understand the homeless. It's okay, you can move into my house. Or to greenwich and sleep in the $1.2M car..."

Anonymous said...

Rell: CT "national role model" for housing.

Genghis Conn said...

Here's where Cliff Thornton should be pitching his "free college" idea.

Anonymous said...

DeStefano is talking about Kindergarten & Pre-K! Reading teachers! Higher ed! That has zero to do with homelessness.

Anonymous said...

DESTEFA-NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !

Genghis Conn said...

...How about librarians? Can we have some money, too?

Anonymous said...

did someone above seriously mention 50cent? what?

did one of the candidates mention him?

Genghis Conn said...

Doesn't 50Cent live in Mike Tyson's old house in Farmington?

Anonymous said...

He sure does. He should moderate these debates.

Genghis Conn said...

"Selling tickets"

Sheesh, should have put something on the drinking game for that.

Anonymous said...

Well Jodi didnt "lose" so in reality, she won. What she needed after last debate.

When do the Lt Gov's debate? I hear Fedele is salivating to rip apart Glassman...

Genghis Conn said...

Speaking of Tyson, no knockout punch here. DeStefano harped on Moody too much, and Rell didn't make any mistakes. She was sharper and attacked him a bit more.

And that's it. That's the end.

Anonymous said...

booorrrrrrrrrring. we learned nothing...

Anonymous said...

A clear choice: between "can't do that" Rell and "can do" DeStefano.

Anonymous said...

DeStefano, as ususal, just did not get the job done. He can't sell his ideas because they are too convaluted, and he is so far behind in the polls that his only hope is to bring Rell down. This won't work -- as there is one elected official right now who people believe to be good and on their side, and that is Jodi Rell. And despite all the cyniscism that is out there in the political world, people desperately want to believe that there is someone looking out for them. who is on their side, and the people of CT have decided its Rell. So while all the other campaigns for office are negative (on both sides), playing fast and loose with the facts, and otherwise turning the public off to politics, and politicians, Jodi Rell remains above it all.

So regardless of what you say about her accomplishments, or lack thereof, and her vision and ability to tackle the big issues, she has won in the minds of the public. They love her.

DeStefano doesn't have the money, the personality or the ability to change this fact.
