It Lives

Is it me, or did Alan Schlesinger just return from the dead? I'm following the media buzz about this debate, and I'm seeing Schlesinger's name a lot. He seems to have made an impression.

Interesting. I'll watch the thing tonight at 7pm, and I'll let you know what I think.

Back indeed! Colin just said he is going to invite him back onto his show and was serious about it. He even said is starting to like "this Scglesinger".

Yah, pretty much. Rather screechy overall, but did a good hammer job on Joe.

yeah, he;ll get a day or two of press. and then fade again.

"Alan Gold" knows the price of admission to this game is $1M/week. And the GOP is pulling back from incumbents in trouble, so he'll never see a nickle

and why would any appreciable number of GOP voters not named Dick Foley reward Lamont by voting for Schlesinger?

Schlesinger has decided to fight for the Republican base that Joe assumed after his loss in the Dem primary.

This is very bad news for Lieberman. Outside of Joe's support for Bush's war, why else should a Republican vote for him? Wasn't it Joe himself who bragged about voting with Democratic leadership 90% of the time?

Lamont's 40% of the vote is in the bank, with the hope to grow his numbers via unaffiliated voters. Lieberman's lead has depended on the 75% of CT Republicans who have said they will vote for him. Watch Joe's numbers drop as Schlesinger continues to connect with real Republicans.

P.S. If you missed the debate this afternoon, you absolutely have to watch tonight. Thanks to Alan Schlesinger, it was the most entertaining debate that I've ever seen!

Alan Schlesinger is,without a doubt, the Smarter of the two people who will be at the top of the Republican ticket. He even proved why a college education is a good thing to have when you're running for High Office.

If there were a Republican Party in CT Mr. Schlesinger would be a much better and brighter head of it then Jodi Rell could ever be.

how transparent is it to see Lamonst people pretend like Schlesinger is wonderful. It's more transparent that plexiglas!

AS doesn't get double digits Lamont loses big. So try and shame Republicans into helping the more liberal of the two candidates..remarkable

then again Ned thinks running his cable business into the turf makes him a great senate candidate

I'm voting for Lamont in November, but I'd doing so based on issues not personality.

Schlesinger came across in the debate as probably the most likeable candidate, and as man of conviction (I just disagree with his convictions).

I think he will pull some Republicans back to the fold, and that is probably good news for Lamont based on poll numbers saying that 80%+ of GOPers are voting for Joe.

What hasn't been wonderful is Joe Lieberman gaming the system. Since when do Republicans abandon one of their own in favor of a Democrat? You are correct that it is indeed shameful.

What is true is that if Republicans vote on principle, and not gamesmanship, Lieberman loses. So the big question is why should Connecticut Republicans go Low for Joe?

And this myth about Lamont being a raging liberal needs to stop. Lieberman himself argued that Lamont is fiscally to the right of Joe. And then there is all that damnable pork that Lieberman loves, and Lamont rejects.

I have to say, Schlesinger did a great job. He was articulate and persuasive. He kept on point, unlike Lieberman and Lamont. He offered voters a real choice on the issues. Will I vote for him? I'm still too scared a vote for him will put Lamont over the top. But I will keep an open mind...

Schlesinger also showed himself to have a personality. He was defintiely funny and he even showed a little passion for the entitlement issue. This guy was a true Republican - as opposed to a disgruntled or an authenetic one - going back to his high school days

disgruntled_republican sounds alot like his hero Jodi Rell on the Senate race.
