Another Newton-Related Bribery Charge

Apparently, there's more:
he president of a Louisiana computer company has been charged with paying $3,000 to former state Sen. Ernest Newton for his promise to help her win lucrative contracts, federal officials said Wednesday.
...
The indictment alleges Foxworth, the wife of former New Orleans Saints football player and Newton friend Anthony Elliott, expected Newton to provide advance information about state and Bridgeport city contracts that would help her win them.

It also says she expected Newton to urge the winner of a contract to audit Bridgeport's school finances to hire her as a subcontractor. (AP)
I don't know that there's anything left to say about Newton. There's a lot to say about corruption in Connecticut, which is far from rooted out.

Oh well. Toss it in the hot tub with the others.

Hey Anon 11:45,

Newton going to be serving 5 times the time Rowland did for a much lesser crime.

My outrage today is Reserved for Your President who it was revealed today Had portions if this countries National intelligence estimate LEAKED by Scooter Libby to Judith Miller for purely Political reasons.

I've little doubt Your president did the same with Valerie Plames Identity.

I love how Democrats constantly harp on the fact that Rowland only did one year when Ernie is getting five. That doesn't make Ernie less guilty. Most Republicans admit Rowland should have gotten much more time, but Ernie's sentence seems about right. Keep that crack-smoking mob associated crook behind bars for as long as possible. He was a stain on the Senate long before any of this came out.

Hmm, those Republicans looking for the Democrats' outrage should remember that your Senate Minority Leader NEVER called for Rowland's resignation, yet still critcized the Democrats for their handling of the Newton issue.

Should the Dems have been more critical of Newton? Hells yeah. But remember that the Republicans need to learn that glass houses & stones lesson as well.
