Diana Urban in CT News Junkie. I heard her yesterday on Bruce and Colin (WTIC 1080-AM), and she's pretty interesting.

MikeCT examines the voting patterns of minority-party selectmen, and finds that Lamont voted with the majority Republicans an awful lot less than most do.

DeStefano has a plan for "supporting and protecting our children."

Also, some funny stuff from LamontBlog.

What else is happening?

When's somebody going to come up with a plan to improve state government and lower my state taxes at the same time like big corporations that spend billions every year have to do? And don't feed me the car tax shell game even though getting rid of the car tax would be good government policy.

Diane Urban is the g/f of rep Fontana..the vice chair of the Dem Party...her being an anti war independant republican would hurt Lamont and AS and helps Lieberman ..and i am sure she was coaxed into the race by her b/f and other party leaders that want Lieberman and not Lamont to win.

If she was serious about the Senate run then why didnt she do the honorable thing and drop out of her state senate race and solely concentrate on this race for the US Senate?

When is Joe going to advertise on TV or on the radio? Ned is blasting away with both barrells and Joe is doing..nothing. Odd campaign that Joe is running.

Gio...maybe it hasnt occured to you but the money that Joementum raised can only be used for his Dem run...and the money is drying up...any funds collected by his 3rd party effort..must be used in his november race

I can't see Urban getting the signatures. She has no grass roots organization, no party machine behind her. She had 7600 votes total in the last election, running unopposed. I just don't see her having the people willing to work for her and get petitions signed.

BR--That still makes no sense--he supposedly has mucho $$$ and Ned has spent the past month defining Joe while Joe basically has sat in the bunker...it's bizarre. Any $$$ he collects after Aug 9 would be for the indy run.

Anon 3:03..then why are the same circulaters for lieberman also circulating her petitions around Stonington?

bluecoat,

Big corporations improve state government and lower state taxes?

Really?

Are you suggesting that big corporations reduce prices for their customers at the same time they are increasing spending on R&D, marketing, producing their products, etc.???

When's the last time you checked out the price of gasoline? Prescription drugs? Any consumer product whatsoever?

Companies that reduce the cost of their product at the same time their operating costs increase don't generally end up in sound financial shape. For an example of this effect in government, take a look at the federal budget deficit's growth over the last 6 years.

If you believe that Connecticut government needs to do less and tax less, that's fine. But just say it and articulate what services you think we could do without and which taxes should be cut.

If you think Connecticut government is inefficient, that's fine too. But just say where and how you think it can become more efficient.

And yes, Governor Rell's car tax proposal was silly.

Famous Irish writer makes calls for Malloy

Frank McCourt recorded a message for the Malloy campaign. This is great, but the best part about the article is DeStefano's spokesman completely putting his foot in his mouth: "I'm not surprised that the Malloy campaign is loaded with a lot of rich and famous contributors," Slap said. "I think we have much more grass roots support and we have support from working families."

Anyone who has read his books or knows about McCourt, knows how ridiculous this is. I think Malloy's campaign manager summed it up perfectly: "Frank McCourt grew up poorer than most people could possibly imagine, certainly poorer than John DeStefano and the people working for him," Cooney said. "The fact that they have the audacity to play class warfare with a man of Frank McCourt's stature and accomplishment, given where he came from, is shocking."

What is it with DeStefano campaign spokesmen? Between Slap and Shonu they've had two of the nastiest in recent history. Sometimes its okay to just say "good for the other guy" and move on. I guess they figured they werent getting the Irish vote anyway?

Diana Urban has been the g/f of many democratic legislators.

When Joe was on the air early in the summer, he seemed to be pumping all his money into network TV, which costs a ton of money. Ned, on the other hand, has been blasting the cable channels where you get many spots per dollar. That could be a factor.

As far as I know, Diana Urban has dated two legislators while serving in the legislature, hardly worthy of this much comment, particularly since she is single and the men in question are peers, not subordinates as is the case with some male legislators. I would bet that a number of male candidates "dated" far more - even the married ones. Ask the interns...

Anon 3:13--

What evidence do you have of that?

Anonymouus: Big corporations reduce their costs and improve their products and services all the time: try communications services, electronic equipment and motor vehicles in constant dollars over the years for your model rather than processed petroleum products that rely on the supply price of limited fossil fuel charged by a cartel.

While I'm sure that certain current and former legislators have taken liberties with the interns, let's stay on topic. The Urban Sprawl has been well documented--and let's not stop with legislators. There are a few choice top staffers out there who have had the pleasure.

RELL TWO-IN-ZERO! SAVES BRADLEY AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE!! -- announcement made ny Governor this afternoon -- saves 400 jobs!!

I'm sure Lieberman will soon be taking credit for it....

Thanks, Jodi!!

A Malloy spokesperson just sent out a release claiming credit for saving those 400 jobs. According to the DM campaign, since the planes may one day fly over the City of Stamford they get counted as jobs he created. LOL

trueblue...because i saw some circulating both petitions and getting signatures the other day.

Ned Lamont trys to be all things to all people. He is throwing his money around hoping to buy the Senate Seat with the help of DFA and their little army of Liberal Weasels.

Thank god that organization didnt take off in Litchfield County like it did down on the shoreline. The DFA Weasels and pinheads will do and say anything to convince you to support Left Said Ned"Flanders" Lamont.

I will be glad when DFA is finished statewide and also no more dumpjoe.com and all these liberals will have to find a real job other than badmouthing our country and insulting and calling Senator Lieberman bad things Shame on you Liberals!!!

In about 13 days we will be saying Ned-Who? when Left Said Ned is done and we will be rid of DFA or as I call them Dummies For America.

In 6 months no one will even remember who Ned Lamont is or that The Dummies for America Group ever existed.

He is throwing his money around hoping to buy the Senate Seat

He is being outspent by a considerable margin. Maybe I'm slow, but how does getting out spent equal buying a Senate seat?

I got a message on my answering maching from Bill Clinton today urging me to vote for Joe. I guess this makes me a Friend of Bill. I wondered how he got the swelling music and crowd noises behind him while calling me from home. I'll have to ask him about that.

I agree with Anon 5:27 - stop the innuendos regarding Diana Urban. Are these the same people that supported Bill Clinton, JFK, FDR, etc. If people's sex lives are up for grabs, let's face it - relatively few candidates could withstand the scrutiny.

Anonymous said...

Certainly not John DeStefano.

I am just happy to see some anti-Ned posters here--refreshing.

TrueBlueCT said...

Gio--

Joe himself says Ned is to the right of Lieberman on fiscal issues. Why wouldn't you prefer Ned to Joe?

Anonymous said...

Evidently the use of push polling is contagious this summer. I suppose Dave Zoni's idea of a campaign kickoff is to call around Southington trashing Sam Caligiuri

More statements about Lamont,Swan,Crane and the DFA to come...Tom Swan and Keith Crane have an agenda to takeover DSCC and one of these Gentlemen wants to become State Chmn or if not them someone of their ilk who wants to run Nancy DiNardo and Steve Fontana off DSCC.

I used to be on a DTC but I resigned this afternoon Because I am not being told by anyone that I have to support Lamont if he wins the primary now I can support Joe right through election Day because you stinking Liberals dont own me.

The Left Wing of this party does not speak for me and I dont want them speaking for me.I speak for myself and I support who I want to support so they need to get over themselves.

They think they are Gods Because they are associated with that Loser Organization Dummies for America.

I will continue to speak against Swan and Crane and any of the other Lamont Thugs because I am an American and I have my rights despite the fact they think I dont have any rights at all.

Dummies for America is a group of Liberal Losers who think they can play god and tell All Democrats what to do.

Well No one tells me what to do and I will continue to support joe Lieberman and The Real Democrats like Dan Malloy and Mary Messina Glassman and if you dont like Bite Me.
