Open Forum

I've heard that the Lieberman campaign will be starting up a blog soon (maybe today). Anyone know if that's true?

There's a movement afoot to allow recall of elected officials, a la California. Mostly, this seems to involve individual towns with recall provisions in their charters.

Lastly, I wanted to remind you that we're still taking applications for a progressive front-page poster to replace Gabe. If you're interested, send me an email. This appointment would last through Thanksgiving. We'll be accepting applications through Wednesday, at which point we'll make an announcemnt. Thanks to everyone who has applied so far!

What else is happening?

There was a story in Saturday's Waterbury Republican-American about an injured Marine who just recently came home from Iraq. It was kind of a nice piece, so I thought some might like to read it.

Recall is a terrible idea!

September 5, 2006 -- A string of anti-Semitic rants about Sen. Joe Lieberman have popped up on the liberal MoveOn.org's open forum Web site, drawing criticism from the Anti-Defamation League.

There are definitely anti-semitic sentiments expressed by many anti-Lieberman posters on Kos. and MoveOn.org and other places. Fortunately, none of that has ever come from the regular anti-Joe/ pro-Ned posters on this board ala BR and TBCT et al.

This is the ugly side of America. I think on an earlier post prior to the primary Lanny Davis, a Lieberman supporter, discussed this issue.

Just goes to show you that hatred and bigotry are all around us and we must be vigilant to call it out when we see it.

Anon 4:38, currently we have two conservative bloggers, two moderates, and one liberal. I'm outnumbered two-to-one from both sides. :)

Genghis, could you let me know what this would entail [hours, responsibilities, etc.?]. I might be able to be of some help, at least sporadically. You can email me here:

CGG--

Who is the other moderate. I read one Democrat, three Republicans, and one ex-Green.

Kind of reminds me of the "fair and balanced" mainstream media.
