I wouldn't take too much advice from the President if I were Shays...

DeStefano puts a new "kiss" in ad.

And an overlooked exchange with Lieberman:
REPORTER: Does this NIE report in the Times change things for you?

LIEBERMAN: I'm gonna talk about it during the remarks.

REPORTER: Does it change things, or not?

LIEBERMAN: No.

REPORTER: No?

LIEBERMAN: No.

What else is going on?

From the department of "what?"

In the State Senate 21st district race, Democratic candidate Chris Jones was caught at a strip bar last Saturday night by a group of Republicans with....guess what.... a cell phone with camera. Overheard some of them bragging about it and having other "dirt" on Jones. Probably all nonsense.

Why would an active candidate for state senate go to a strip club? Makes no sense. Hopefully just a nasty rumor. Politics is ridiculous sometimes.

Anon 10:45—

Who cares? Stop spreading rumors from Republicans if you want to help.

The REAL problem with the 21st State Senate race is that Jones has already lost it by not doing anything. Here is a recap to date:

-Debicella (the Republican) has had hundreds of signs up since Labor Day. Jones has exactly zero in Stratford (and probably in other towns as well).

-Debicella has a TV commercial with Doc Gunther (the outgoing State Senator who is about 200 years old) that is showed over and over again. No one knows Debicella from a hole in the wall, but people down here really like Gunther. Again, no Jones anywhere.

-I have already received two mail pieces from Debicella. None from Jones.

I don’t want to hear “it’s still early” from the Jones people—there is only six weeks until election day and NO ONE in Stratford knows who Jones is.

So who dropped the ball on this one? Well, we in Stratford did. Terry Backer should have been our nominee—he would have been winning right now. Jones isn’t even working at this open seat—a golden opportunity!

This will be a Democratic year, and we will not win this seat because of poor campaigning. It’s a real shame.

Yawn.

Still can't figure out how to do a hyperlink eh?

That race is over and has been for over a year.

REAL Republicans are voting for the more conservative candidate; John Larson.

Notice that GOP state central refuses to take MacLean's calls; that should tell you something.

Victory 06 won't be blowing any money on a racist.

Here you go Scotty: No habla MacLean

The new DeStefano ad tying Rell to Rowland: Sure looking forward to a Rell ad tying DeStefano to Hugo Chavez, the muliti-millionaire Latin American progressive who is supplying Hew Haven with cheap oil. Kissy, kissy.

Give it a rest. Chavez isn't progressive by a long shot. He's authoritarian and wants to be the next Castro.

I see your distiction between progressives and authoritarians, though I tend to think of progressives as unemployed authoritarians.

When Chavez was denouncing DeStefano's president at the UN in terms that make even the Rev. Sharpton blush, why was DeStefano silent? Had he been bought off by Big Latin American Oil?

Why are you expecting a gubernatorial candidate to say anything about some nut speaking at the UN? Shouldn't he be concentrating on something that matters to CT?

Bobby

Try to imagine what might have happened if Jodi Rell had accepted monitary favors from some Latin American rightwing dictator and you have the answer to your question.

RE: favors from Latin American dictators, Chavez. Al Sharpton denounced Chavez -- Sharpton!!! What flower pot is Chris Dodd hiding behind? Dodd has been intimately involved in Latin America ever since Reagan attempted to put the Ortega brothers out of business in Nicaragua. In that flapdoodle, Dodd visited Nicaragua several times and had tete a tetes with the Ortegas. So where is he?
