An Opening

Calling all Conservatives

Are you a Republican and/or a conservative? Do you have lots of opinions, good writing skills, time to burn and no interest in getting paid?

If so, you may be perfect for the CTLP team. Since Quinn has gone and vanished into the ether, we've been down a conservative. If you feel like helping us restore balance to the blog, send me an email (click on "about" at the top for my address) with your name, location and why you want to blog for us. I'll accept applications through Friday.

Turf girl is conservative. The way she distorts Ned's record is pretty indicative of that. You don't have to hire another conservative.

You should find yourself two honest and intelligent Republicans and drop Turfgrrl who is an embarrassment.

I vote for Kevin Rennie. Except he might expect some cash.

i dont mind a good conservative posting and arguing..( i enjoy disgruntled and others like ACR) what i do mind is dishonesty and disemblimg...and GC..you have enabled this by not doing your due diligence and checking for conflicts BEFORE putting them on...

If someone wants to "shill" for Lieberman...by all means do so...but be upfront with us all...her pants got pulled down and see...turfgrll wont tell us a thing...nice

Check the end of this thread. Fusco hasn't been a client of hers for a decade.

i find it hard to believe that a so called " top crack web designer" wouldnt alter her webpage much in 10 years....its tough for me to believe that one.

For a supposed "neutral" her pro lieberman postings far far outweigh any pro Lamont postings. But whatever..im a killer bee...bbbbbbbbbbbbzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

turfgrrl said...

brubenstein-- once again you are displaying your crack reading comprehension skills. 2006 - 2001 = 5 years and centrist and neutral do not mean the same thing.

BRubenstein said...

ya...some "centrist" you are...

GC said 10 years..and i followed along..

Why are Republicans necessary here? The Democrats seem to be doing an excellent job of debating each other and bickering amongst themselves, so the Republicans ought just step back and watch.

Lamont-Lieberman, JDS-DM; let the fun continue! I don't know if it can get any better. "Fake" endorsements, claims by Lieberman that Lamont is a closet Republican; claims by Lieberman that Lamont is getting his support from only leftists; Lamont claims Lieberman is too close to Bush; not to mention the claims and counterclaims against other bloggers here. Oh, and then there was Coulter's endorsement.

I wonder if Ann Coulter sort of feels a little like Israel did during the Iran-Iraq war. She doesn't want either side to win, just to keep attacking each other. During the Iran-Iraq war, when one side was getting ahead, an Israeli agent would call the other side's embassy in London and give them key intelligence so they could gain an upper hand for a while. Ann Coulter gives a sort-of endorsement to Lieberman, which just riles up the Lamont supporters. Ann has to know that her endorsement would be seen as a negative by Democrat primary voters (you know, the godless, granola-eating socialist wannabees or whatever she says about them in her books), so either she wants the fighting to continue or thinks that Lamont winning the primary would be a good thing.

Ann Coulter's going to hell. Like we didn't know that already. Only people that've blessed her are devil reincarnates: Michael Savage, Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity.

All four of them support Lieberman. Go figure.

As the only current Republican contributor right now I am hoping that Authentic Connecticut Republican comes forward....I think he would make a nice addition to the team.

I do say this without any knowledge of his background and barring any conflicts of coarse...

(just covering my butt from you guys)

disgruntled_republican flatters me.

However I don't write that well; and would be concerned over time commitments.

dumbruss said...

Why is it necessary to have a Republican for balance? Last I checked, Democrats were pretty much fighting between themselves for right, middle and left, and Republicans were off in outer space on the wacked out right.

Whadda, work for Jodi do ya?

I've fought for two years to bring her in instead of neighboring GOP Govs for the Bush Dinner.

Coulter causes a lot of buzz, a lot of controversy. Too much controversy for my own party it seems.

That stuff sells tickets.

Anyone that can get the Left foaming at the mouth as fast as she does has box office appeal.

Besides that, she's funny.

Gio said...

What a joke--turfgirl--a Democrat from what I can see--posts pro Joe stuff and is promptly flamed away by the nuts at Ct Liberal Politics.

BTW--Mrs. Gio received both of Joe's glossy flyers over the weekend and I thought they were very well done. They certainly sow the seeds of doubt for middle of the road Democrats ( a class of citizens the Lamontheads are fast disenfranchising)

BRubenstein said...

gio...your description of people is dehumanizing and wrong...calling us " nuts" is denigrating and not up to the standards of reasonable political discourse...can you knock off the cheap B.S? Its one thing to disagree...its another to do what you did

CTAnalyst said...

I find it very interesting that turfgrrl on Ryze is listed as Jackie Lightfield. I checked around and my friends from Norwalk tell me that Jackie is a registered Republican who worked for Richard Moccia’s Mayoral campaign last year.

Can anyone confirm or refute this? If so, perhaps she should not be part of the " neutral and independent” front page bloggers. Perhaps she should disclose that she is a Republican and should probably refrain from talking about a primary in a party different from her own.

Personally, given her personal attacks on Lamont supporters and her apparent inability to talk seriously about issues, I question whether or not she should have front page posting rights at all.

BRubenstein said...

ACR would be a great contributor if available...or the Architect...or anon...any of them are conservative and factual...

Gio said...

Apparently posters to this blog must toe the "Lamont is God" line --otherwise they are operatives of Joe, or Republicans (God forbid), or not factual, and have never worked in a major statewide campaign that vanquished all foes.....

Authentic Connecticut Republican said...

dumbruss said... "Why is it necessary to have a Republican for balance?"

Good point!

Besides that, at least in my case there's a question as to whether or not I'm balanced or not anyway.

Just ask my wife, she'll tell ya!

[drum flare, bah boom boom]

Gio, you are right, those glossy flyers from Lieberman are really good. Even Paul Bass agrees.

They certainly sow the seeds of doubt.

Angelina seems to know what she's talking about, no question about it.

Besides then I wouldn't need to as I always agree with her anyway. I wonder how much time she has?

It would be perfect for me, like Nancy Johnson is in congress - no need for me to pay attention as save for a few oddball issues Nancy actually represents me.

Likewise, from what postings I've seen of hers with Angelina.

Gio said...

The attack on the adds by Paul Bass--seem to me--aimed at wonkish political animals. To your average voter they appear effective in raising doubts about Ned. Most voters are not following this campaign. So you get an attack ad, you get the AFL-CIO endorsing Joe, Joe has mega bucks sitting on the sideline, debate to come and Joe has mucho experience in debates....

Your average voter does not take his marching orders from Kos, despite what the "well intentioned" crowd on this blog thinks.

CTAnalyst said...

Good point, Gio. We shouldn't be concerned about fairness or accuracy, only whether or not it will sway uninformed voters. After all, it is this sort of democracy that has helped make our country what it is.

bluecoat said...

CT Analyst: your welcome for the link;, and if turrffy is a registered Republican who worked for Moccia - she definitely was on the zoning commission in Norwalk - why is she now a shill for Malloy, Farrell and Lieberman?? she once was once objective but now she is clearly biased but it's not clear why ...but as long as it's clear we know...personally I don't think the DLC is a centrist organization..

Gio said...

Ctanalyst--The add by Lamont which morphs Joe and W--that's perfectly acceptable, of course, because it's your side that's doing it!!!

Gimme a break, campaigns are about winning and the vitriol against the Joe flyers prove to me that they are effective.

cgg said...

Who said anything about neutral? Turfgrrl and Genghis are moderates, and like the rest of us moderates have opinions. Is being in the middle a crime now?

I disagree with Turfgrrl's posts most of the time. Most of us do. Argue with her all you want, but I think attacking her personally crosses a line.

bluecoat said...

BR: Chris MC is a conservative? You'll say anything to get rid of him, won't you?:->>

bluecoat said...

cgg: Diane Farrell is anything but a moderate... and turffy supports her....(corrected for the wrong button)...she clearly changed course in her objectivity and started to at least appear as a shill for the DLC...she needs to know that and can then doa s she wishes...

BRubenstein said...

Bluecoat...Chris struck me as a conservative...but who knows how he characterizes himself.

BRubenstein said...

Dianne Farrell strikes me as a moderate...her years on the Westport council would indicate a very moderate course there..she maybe is running more "left" then she governed in Westport...but that's for show to firm up the base of the party.

bluecoat said...

BC: except that I think that the flag ammendment is silly, that the govt. shouldn't be in the business of marriage, that Iraq is a freaking mess and that Bush isn't prosectuing the war on terror as well as he might a lot of people I know consider me conservative in my thinking..... I don't consider Chris MC who wants universal healthcare - paid for by the govt as far as I can tell - to be conservative; if by conservative you mean supporting farrell, joe and malloy well then maybe so given your view of the DLC from the diabolical (just kidding GC don't ban me) left...

bluecoat said...

BR: I think Farrell goes with the wind and yes she's gone to the left in her congressional campaign; as for what she did in Westport, compare that to Lamont in Greenwich; it's tough to be anything but "moderate" in a Fairfield County town because....

disgruntled_republican said...

If it means anything; as the conservative blogger on CLP I find Chris MC anyhting but conservative...

TSCowperthwait said...

I agree DR. I hope BRubenstein was joking around when he called Chris MC a conservative.

Gio and CT Analayst, I recently saw the Lamont ad showing Lieberman morph into Bush. I thought that it was a very effective ad for any voter who is not happy with President Bush. I hate to admit it, but the Lamont campaign gets bonus points for creativity on that ad (whether it is accurate or not).

bluecoat said...

I think the Lamont campaign has not only been highly effective in their ad campaign but I have also found them to be honest; I know where the guy stands even if I do think he's naive on a few things and too far left on others; Joe blows with the wind and he has for years...

cgg said...

Lamont's ads are great. The latest one is almost chilling. And the responses they provoke from Camp Lieberman are priceless.

BRubenstein said...

TSC..i was joking....he really is to me a moderate.
