It's just so hard to pick one issue. Well, maybe not for some of you who post here. On the Gov side, I hate to pick anything that isn't ethics, but I'd like a governor who is not only honest, but also a strong leader and maybe effective and someone who won't annoy me every time he shows up on the news.

Genghis--
Can you ask the Republicans and Independents not to mess up our polling data? I don't know of any Democrats who consider Immigration to be the pressing issue of 2006.

Maybe you could offer the Republicans their own poll?

Hey, I said immigration and I'm a D.

Also would you consider giving us a couple of "prediction" threads? It would be fun to get people on the record now as to how things will play out this summer. Maybe we could plan a CTLocal party for mid-August, look back at our predictions, and give out a prize to whoever called it most correctly? FWIW.

I like the idea of prediction threads TrueBlueCT.

The lack of concern over ethics by Democrats is quite revealing.

ACR...there are crooks and unethical people in both parties...dont delude yourself by just blaming democrats.

Your stupid comment after the Sylvester,Rowland and Giordano scandels is "quite revealing"

Yes - so why does that rate so low in the poll here?

Clearly not a concern at all to you.

Oh....I forgot, you'll just call in the feds at the drop of a hat won't you?

ACR I don't rate ethics as a high priority for the primary, but would like to see it front and center in the general election, espcially for the Gov. race.

It's got to be 1st.

Most issues simply are not right or left they are right or wrong.

Most honest people (take a look at the vast number of bills that are passed with massive margins) wind up coming to the same conclusion when there's no "outside" influence.

I've crossed over for more than one Dem that I knew for sure was drop dead straight even knowing that I could expect to disagree with him over half the time on ideological issues.

It just makes sense.

Besides, if the candidate's a weasel nothing they say really matters anyway.

ACR,

You are a republican, and want to talk about ethics? If there's a God in heaven, ethics will come to the forefront in the gubernatorial election. Lisa Moody is already guilty of ethical lapses within the last 6 months, not to mention Governor "I'm so shocked and surprised about everything that happens under my watch" Rell was LG under the most crooked Governor in the country. If it comes down to ethics, Malloy and DeStefano are both in good shape.

Sure no problem for me - I was on the outs the whole time Johnny was in charge - I'm an old Dick Bozzuto guy and most of us were put out to pasture during the JR rein of terror.

" Lisa Moody is "

Knock it off already with Lisa; I've known that poor girl for 20 plus years and you haven't a clue.

" If it comes down to ethics, Malloy and DeStefano are both in good shape.

I owned a business in New Haven that was robbed of over a 200 grand; the "perp" was a known source for the NH police and as such they refused to even take a report. So far I've spent over 10K on atty's alone to get him prosecuted. A victim should not have to pay attys to get prosecution. New Haven is flat out corrupt from the top down and I have the canceled checks to my attys that I should never have had to write to prove it.

I know little of Malloy save for the fact that he represents a lower Fairfield County town. As a resident of central CT I tend to view all of lower FFC as a pack of arrogant stuffed shirts - so far those I've met from there have not disappointed me; while the rest of Connecticut is close enough to utopia for me to pass for it.

I love Connecticut, friendly as all get out, pretty, loads of nice little towns. It's fabulous.

It's just lower Fairfield County and New Haven I can't stand.

Jodi is not JR - and she never was. What the public sees on TV is who she is in private as well. She's the real deal and has done a decent job so far and will I think continue to for as many years as she's willing to take the job. We're lucky to have her.

Rell is going down said...

Wait,

Did you really write "Knock it off already with Lisa; I've known that poor girl for 20 plus years and you haven't a clue.:

Poor girl? If I was lucky enough to be the GOVERNOR'S CHIEF OF STAFF I would be sure to read and understand the rules of campaign finance. This is a 'girl' who said that she never really paid attention to a memo that had her name on it. You cannot get away with saying that I dont have a clue. I'd love for you to tell me what job you have where you can receive a memo, allow for your name to be placed on it, then claim innocence when you disabide because you never really read it.

Rell is going down said...

AND,

You can say all you want in your ALL CAPS, but New Haven is not a corrupt city. Are you accusing Mayor DeStefano of stealing your $200k? You should be ashamed of yourself. If you really are a republican, isn't it a little early to go negative on a candidate you are beating in the polls by 40%?

Again, I hope this election digs deeper into all of the candidates. DeStefano will come out clean, Malloy will come out clean, and "Aunt Jodi" will be the one answering questions about what she knew, what she condoned, and what she had no idea about.

Wolcottboy said...

I predict there will be a prediction thread. :)

How's that? Do I win anything at the Local Politics BBQ? :)

Hope to see ya all there!

Wolcottboy said...

I'm surprised that "beating Gov. Rell" is rated so high on the Democratic primary list.

Just how do you go about figuring this out? I mean - how do you decide who's best at beating another candidate? Arm wrestling?!

Actually- and if there's staffers reading this - let's forgoe one debate for a best of 3 arm wrestling champsionship between DeStefano and Malloy, perhaps a week or two before the primary.

But really- don't some of the issues listed become PART OF the equation for why my candidate can beat your candidate? And certainly one has an edge in an issue or another. Or ya might think - and if not- I guess its just a big cloud of confusion. How did he stand? What was the other guy's proposal? Oh he said that? So I stand myself corrected.

(pardon me-... just got off work -off to bed!)

ACR - What is the margin of error in an online poll of 59 (or 52) Democrats (that includes Republicans)? I bet it is too big to extrapolate what is or isn't revealing about Democrats...

WalcottBoy - If there is a prediction thread and a BBQ, I will personally ensure that your bigger is cooked well enough to prevent diseases. Unless you are veggie, then no prize for you...

That's your response?

This isn't about any of the questions but it does touch on the Iraq issue of the second question about the Senate race so I thought I'd post it from the front page of the CT Post is Shays admits errors on Iraq, as it goes to the Iraq issue as well as Shays effectiveness and integrity that Farrell is trying to challenege - wrongly in my opinion.

Authentic Connecticut Republican said...

Rell is going down said... "That's your response?"

If only you could show me where I've ever used all caps; as I haven't a clue what you're rambling about.

bluecoat said...

Like John Rowland, ACR doesn't like Fairfied or New Haven County. But my guess is like Rowland he wants us to keep sending our money to Hartford so CT's wealth can be redistributed.

But then here we go again, ACR likes the Rell/Fedele ticket, which is Fairfield County all the way - not even a new haven yuppie...and GOP State Central wonders why it's so easy for them to maintain their minority in the legislature??? watch out as the national demeocrats are hoping the national Republicans adopt your strategy!!!!

ACR....the poll reveals what the poll reveals...maybe there would be less crime in politcs if we put politicians on a 12 step program.

BTW..anyone would call the cops if a crime is being committed or a possible crime was committed...even you a Bozzutto guy who looks like he is "soft" on crime
