Motivational, Inspirational

I'm speechless.

Helen Ubiñas, fortunately, isn't. Read her column on this weird subject here.

So is he supposed to stay in house for the rest of time? Seriously folks, the guy went to prison and served his time, al biet not enough IMHO, so why shouldn't he be able to do this?

If people buy it, I see nothing wrong with him selling it and based upon what I heard on the news after his first speach, he wasn't half bad.

So you answered my question bluecoat. YOu think he should sit at home and do nothing.

The title of the speaches is fitting in that he tells his tale...and arogance couldn;t be further from the truth...from what I saw and have read he is as about as humble as any man can get. Don't let your hatred for him blind you of what he has become.

Hate him all you want but recognize that he has been reformed.

And before you call me one of his, "staunch supporters and former defenders"...I never voted for him. Not once.

It's not spin. I'll agree to let it go but I think you are dead wrong. And for the record, I just didn't like the guy. That's why I didn't vote for him.

He was such a bad governor that the only way the Dems could beat him was by persecuting, I mean prosecuting him. Johnny GR did some very good things in his 10 years to go along with the not-so-good things and people ought not forget those.

Look, I’m not saying the guy shouldn’t have resigned and served time, because he should have. I just think that we should all move on. That goes for Jodi Rell too. She seems to have an aversion to coming to the Valley…the smart money says it’s because we still love Johnny here. Either way, screw the state’s firefighters at your own political peril, Jodi.

So sex offenders and violent criminals and drug users can be rehabilitated, yet someone who didn't pay taxes on gifts he received can't be. Interesting!

Wow. Speechless does not begin to cover it.

John Rowland will be speaking at the John Locke Foundation in North Carolina, and offering his wisdom about why the public should be skeptical about ethics reform. Seriously?

By way of background, North Carolina's got it's own problems with unethical behavior among elected officials. The problems include bribery scandals, politicians doing favors in return for campaign contributions, lobbyist money greasing the skids for legislation, etc. And wouldn't you know it, the John Locke Foundation is one of the outfits leading the charge against ethics and campaign finance reform in North Carolina.

So here's John Rowland. Fresh out of prison. While he was up the river, Connecticut adopted sweeping ethics and campaign finance reform in response to the scandals of his administration. And he hires himself out as an inspirational speaker for the forces in North Carolina who are opposed to similar reforms in that state!

The foundation chose "The Arrogance of Power" as the title for Rowland's appearance. Someone down there is a master of the art of comedic irony.

Unbelievable.

No way should any convicted felon be able to go on a lucrative speaking tour right out of the prison door like this. No, he did nowhere near enough time, and yes he should not be able to make money speaking about his slimy world. Ultimate sleaze.

I always gear of all the good Rowland did..for the love of god man what was it?

Go back to the 2000 election debates and listen to what Bill Curry said. Everything he said was not only true but came true.

Besides.Rowland still has all his state benifits and pension

I'm sure Helen Ubinas will be writing a similar scathing article about Ernie Newton once he makes the speaking rounds when he is out of prison in several years. I'm also waiting anxciously for her column criticizing Rep. Jefferson Davis, too.
It's a free country, Helen, and people are buying tickets to Rowland's speeches. Get over it and stick to defending kids with eyebrow rings.

The plain fact is that John Rowland, besides being a sociopath, was a bad governor. No transportation policy, his urban legacy a myth; his buddy Rock Regan bringing the state's IT system to the brink of collapse. Christine Ragalia drunk at the helm of DCF; that arrogant little toad Art Spada running public safety like a private club; Mental Health and Mental Ratardation policy dragged back 20 years in time, Public Works and Administrative Services laundering operations for political favors and money. What she knew or didn't know doesn't matter to me as much as the fact that, while most of the high profile screw-ups are gone, Rell hasn't really changed anything. Dozens of Rowland thugs and loyalists are still in goverment in postions of influence. (Check Lisa Moody's invite list). Anything compared to Rowland looks good but does it have to be Rell's mind numbing mediocrity.

For what its worth (and it is probably worth very little), I am firmly convinced that if Rowland and Curry ran against each other today, Rowland would still win.

Love the liberal hypocracy. You can be a cold blooded murderer like Tookie Williams and go on a race hating murder rampage and kill people. And be forgiven by libs and defended against your proper sentence. But ohhhhh boy, if youre a republican and you do something like accept a bribe, oh man you should be tortured and put to death.
