As we head into municipal elections next year, I thought I'd make available the list of sources that I used during 2005 to keep track of what was happening around the state. I'm also posting this list over at the wiki, so you can add to it.

Cheshire's online paper has a few new articles every week.

This Naugatuck newspaper doesn't have much online content yet. But I think the intention is to start adding content.

And this Prospect paper is a monthly.

where's the Cheshire Herald?

Will add. Post links if you have them.

I've got it now. Thanks, Tim!

Keep 'em coming if you know of any more. I'm also sure that some of the above will be defunct, so some link checking is probably in order.

and here's fox's link to local news:

FOX61's online news coverage is lousy, to say the least. I don't think it adds much, which is why I didn't include it.

But I probably should toss it up there, just to be complete.

FYI - I've also added this list to the CT Research page (linked in menu above).

hahaha... i watch Fox's local sunday morning show and that's about it for local TV for me. I rarely watch any broadcast news... local or national.

But here's one more idea...

I stopped watching local TV news a while ago... the way it's presented really annoys the heck out of me.

CT-N should absolutely be on the list of TV news sources. In fact, I put it first.

BTW - for upcoming May elections, the Amity Observer and the Orange Bulletin were gold mines for Bethany and Woodbridge.

The Rep-Am worked for Naugatuck (Doug Dalena did a great job of covering a strange mayoral race there), although if there is a local Naugatuck source, it's probably a lot better.

The J-I did a decent job covering Andover and Bolton. No one knows what the heck is happening in Union. They may not have had elections in 2005.

I know the Naugatuck paper doesn't have content online yet, but they do cover (I think) Beacon Falls, Naugatuck & Prospect.

And here's a link to the parent company of the Amity Observer:

http://www.htponline.com/

Similar to Acorn Online, they've got links to a whole bunch of their hometown newspapers online.

MikeCT,

Funny, the Shore Publishing links were working this morning. Maybe those are old links. I haven't really followed those papers too closely since 2005.

Genghis Conn said...

On the front page how? As a link?

Genghis Conn said...

I did put it as a link on the research page. I don't know if it merits its own link on the top nav bar, though.

FYI: Bethel is located in Fairfield County, not the Litchfield/Waterbury region.
