I'll be posting an interview with John Nussbaum tomorrow (Friday) afternoon.

An article was just posted on the Courant's site about Blumenthal's opinion of Rell's veto and resurrection via executive order of the ethics bill.
Blumenthal Gives Ethics Recommendations

A new Quinnipiac Poll shows that people are against the sub base closing. Shocking. Actually, there appears to be very strong support for making our eminent domain laws stricter. That's good--it'll put pressure on the Democrats to act.

So far your responses to the Rell poll (see the sidebar) have trended towards either the fact that she isn't a felon or the schoolmarm persona as the major reasons behind her popularity.

I have finally seen the DeStefano DVD, and the "negative" stuff is pretty tame. The papers made it out to be much worse than it actually is. What will happen if one of the Democrats comes out with something really negative?

What else is going on today?

DeanFan,

I have the feeling that you won't be happy until I've got a DeStefano sign on my lawn, will you? :)

Seriously, I fell for a bit of media hype. But it's still negative, and I'm not a fan of the relentless negativity that consumes American politics. I'm also not thrilled with the idea of hearing iterations of "Rowland = Rell" over and over again for the next fifteen months, and it's a little disturbing that the DeStefano campaign felt the need to drag it out so early.

We know you won't have a DeStefano sign on your lawn, but you should at least admit to your bias against him. Admit it so new BLoggers don't assume you are unbiased.

And if you do respond with a claim of being unbiased, you have to admit you use the name "DeStefano" in a negative way whenever your hits per day are low just to drive up viewership of this site

I do? How sneaky of me. I wonder if it worked?

I have nothing against John DeStefano. He's running a bold campaign and sometimes I disagree with their actions, but I admire their willingness to take risks and be brash. He's leading the race in money raised for good reason--namely, that he's the only candidate who is noticable right now. And, if nothing else, I give him a lot of credit for helping New Haven start to turn around a bit. Still a lot of problems there, but it's a lot better than Hartford or Bridgeport.

So are you annoyed because I'm biased, or because I don't share your biases towards him?

I saw the DeStefano DVD also and it was the hit on Rell was nothing to scream at which was why I was shocked over Al Terzi going after DeStefano on Sunday.

Personally, the more I think about it, the more I think it was smart for DeStefano becasue drew attention to himself any press is good press. You don't hear any of the other candidates, just DeStefano.

Now don't get me wrong, I have no loyality towards anyone, I just think it was a smart move.

CTblogger,

I'm starting to agree with that, myself. At this point, it's so early in the campaign that no one is really going to remember what was actually said, but they might start to become more familiar with John DeStefano's name.

here's the link you posted. My comments field doesn't like long links posted in full: better to either make a tinyurl or otherwise shorten the displayed text.

Sorry about that.

You should really look into haloscan. It's much better than the blogger comments and very popular with blogs.

Genghis and ctblogger,

Thank you for your comments about DeStefano, the DVD and Al Terzi. I won't be satisified until you both have DeStefano signs up!

Actually, I really appreciate the dialog and discussion. I do believe that the more openly and honestly people discuss the issues, the better Mayor DeStefano looks.

With that, I also want to post a quote from the latest DeStefano blog post.

Apparently, Governor Rell feels that the state of Connecticut has a pressing public health interest in regulating how school districts and day care centers utilize pesticides. But wait, isn’t this the same person who said she was vetoing the junk food bill because she thought the state shouldn’t meddle?

Genghis Conn said...

Huh. Here's a link to the story...

Why the turnaround? Perhaps the fallout from the veto of the junk food bill made her want to avoid similar trouble with this one. It could also be a signal that she's made up her mind to run (finally). Or it could have to do with her lobbyist friend who works for the junk food industry...

By the way, I'll be away for a week, so I'll catch up with the blog when I get back!
