Open Forum

Just in case you had anything to say over the 4th of July weekend.

There is an article by Doug Dalena in the Stamford Advocate about blogs and campaigns featuring yours truly. A minor correction or two: I'm a librarian's assistant, and both sections of the interview took an hour, not half. I know, pick pick pick. But a good article, I thought, and very interesting.

There is an interesting article on Rell's political philosophy in the Danbury News-Times:

I'm really starting to wonder how she plans to raise the millions she will need to be competitive in 2006. High poll numbers and a sympathetic press can only take you so far. I’m sure she will end up taking lobbyist’s money. The Democrats will go after her for it, but better to lose some of the moral high ground than being a few million short in October. The Democratic primary could also be incredibly costly and that might help level the playing field.

P.S. I can't see the maps or any of the links on the right side of the page. Are they down?

I'm seeing the maps on both Firefox and IE... links appear to be working. Not sure why you aren't seeing anything.

Rell may let the Republican party do a lot of the fundraising for her, but I think she's going to have to bite the bullet eventually. She's dealt with lobbyists before.

The primary will be a nasty one if Blumenthal stays out (or even if he jumps in, maybe). That will draw off a decent chunk of money, but given how much each Democrat is raising right now... that might be insignificant.

P.S. I see you were quoted in the Advocate story.

Genghis, just wanted to say thanks for the Malloy interview on Friday. My thoughts on the campaign have vacillated from "I guess I'm for DeStefano because I've heard of him" to "Will anybody beat Rell?" to "Will anybody be any better anyway?" but that exchange made me a lot more aware of Malloy.

Glad to hear it. I'm hoping to continue with the interviews in the coming weeks. I'm hoping to hear back from the DeStefano campaign soon, and Paul Vance (Democrat for Congress in the 5th district) will hopefully be talking with me (and then with all of you) soon as well.
