As the previous open forum is full of various things, I'll start a new one. I've tried to post these every other day--is there enough interest in open forums to justify posting one daily during the week?
Connecticut Democrats won't be holding their convention at the Convention Center because of a strike planned for that date. They will instead meet at the University of Hartford.
President Bush is returning to the state of his birth, apparently. I wonder if Governor Rell or any other Republican seeking election this year will go to meet with him, or appear within fifty miles of him?
What else is happening today?

Word is that Bush is coming to campaign for Joe Lieberman.
That's funny. I heard Bush was going to offer him Secretary of Defense!
Luckily, according to Ken Daglierre, Lieberman never, ever, ever, considered joining the Bush administration!
And can somebody tell me what the 2005 SOTU "Kiss" was all about? I've never heard a real explanation of why George would be so enamored of Joe to run up and kiss him.
Whoops! Read this FoxNews transcript.
WALLACE: If the president asks — and there has been some speculation that he may — would you accept a position in a Bush Cabinet?
(LAUGHTER)
LIEBERMAN: The first thing I'd say is that this has mostly been mentioned by John McCain and your own Bill Kristol. I can't figure out Kristol's motivations. I think McCain is trying to get even with me, because, when I was running for president, I said I'd nominate him for secretary of anything he would accept.
But, look, I love the Senate. I think there's a special opportunity for service here, in a Senate that's too partisan, to bring the parties together, to get something done.
But I must also say that I'm enough of a traditionalist that, if an offer was made by the president, the commander in chief, to serve my country, I'd certainly think about it.

Darn, Ken. Google is such a b-tch.
I expect that all of the national reps as well as Rell will be with the President next week. And here fresh form the AP Rice Concedes Errors in Iraq, Elsewhere but only tactical ones as she still defends the strategy that many Republicans, scuh of myself, have considered deeply flawed.
Dude i just heard Joe's Radio Ad...he must be scard
A few things -
Seems like the Plan B proviso isnt dead yet.
The D's in the legislature slipped it into the budget proposal in such a way as to tie the distribution of Plan B to the distribution of State $$$ Aid for Hospital Energy Costs.
hospitals would have to provide Plan B if they wish to share in $5 million set aside to help hospitals cover spiraling energy costs.
The one-sentence section states: "The sum of $5,000,000 appropriated to the Department of Social Services, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2006, for hospital energy needs, shall only be given to hospitals providing full pharmaceutical services to victims of rape."

Getting back to JJB for a moment, is is true that the Destefano shwag from the event was really made out of country, and in a non-union shop!
That is almost to rediculous to even image! Hope that the campaign recieves the blowback that this action deserves.
"The Anonymous will inherit the Earth........"
This link will work!
FoxNews Transcript of Lieberman discussing a Bush cabinet post.
Seriously? Destefano's stuff was made overseas? Are they that stupid?
Please, somebody who was there, check the stuff out and see! Inquiring minds want to know!
I see President Bush is making a visit to Bridgeport on Wednesday, April 5th.
Will speak to business group about health care.
Weicker Liker-
Did you read GC's original post before you commented? He already put it in there...just FYI.
Last year, Malloy's giveaways were made in China. That is no joke, turned it right over and on the bottom was a made in China sticker.
I think I would have been less offended if Bin Laden kissed Lieberman instead of George Bush.
Bush is the REAL war criminal! I am excitied about NEd Lamont!!!
Today is the end of the quarter, and it's time soon for quarterly finance reports. Tonight would an excellent time to contribute to Murphy, Courtney, Lamont, and/or Farrell.
GC : you should start a pool on how much each challenger will raise!
The Hartford Courant is reporting that Pres. Bush is coming to Bridgeport next week.
WILL SHAYS BE THERE? WILL JOHNSON? WILL SIMMONS?
Former ethics director Alan Plofsky must be rehired with back pay to a job of comparable rank and pay.
More proof some civil service employees think they have a divine right to a paycheck. Any private sector guy would be bounced on his ear for fudging time sheets and destroying staff morale.
I suppose the bright side is the geniuses who want an inqusition against Garfield and Morano will now have to admit that would be an quixotic venture
Orchulli's hats were made overseas for the 04 race as well... cheap bastard, especially considering his fortune... ha
Actually, I'm looking at Orchulli's 2004 hat right now....Made in the USA....asshole. Stop treading on his grave...
House Majority Leader Christopher G. Donovan stopped by the city’s railroad station Thursday to announce that the state is expected to approve $1.25 million this morning for the planned New Haven-to-Springfield commuter rail line.
The Currant says that Bush's schedule hasn't been made public yet, but he will be speaking to a "business about health care". Hmm... Sikorsky and the Union? :)
The governor doesn't want to get involved- but considering the impact to the US Navy and other fed gov't contracts... just imagine.
I posted the CT Post link on Bush's visit under the above Senate thread because somebody had mentioned GWB there. today's NHR advance report on the visit is here
And I might as well comment on Health savings Account since I do like them but they really don't get to the heart of high medical costs because the bulk of the spending is for a minority of the population - the 80/20 rule as it is better know.
And I love it when the MD's bitch about Aetna since it is one of their own who is CEO eventhough he will soon retire after half a decade at the helm.
Great news! Word on the street is that Senate Nanny Pro-Tem Donnie Williams' school nutrition ban was tanked by the Appropriations Committee yesterday!!
Strike a blow for common sense over I-know-better-than-you legislation. Kids don't come to school skinny and get fat on soda!
This is a GOOD day!
I love it how Governor Rell is flip flopped about her stance on Bush....
Gov. M. Jodi Rell said she will be at the event.
"If the president comes to Connecticut, as governor of the state I would welcome him and I’ll be glad to be there with him," Rell said.
Jodi's lines are all scripted by some set of wizards behind the curtain. She is in over her head. It's a shame because the state needs a real leader and the Republicans have chosen to just tread water with the accidental governor. She may very well win the electon but it won't be a good day for CT or the Republican Party.
I have been meaning to post a link to the Talking Transportation blog for Gabe by Darien Democrat and CT Commuter Rail Council Vice Chair James Cameron. So here it is. He can be a little Kookie and self serving at times but he does have the ear of some politicians in Hartford. I don't know if you want to add it to your regular links or not there, GC.
WL, if Howard Dean was President and Tom Scott were Governor I'd expect the Governor to pay some respect.
