Nov. Municipal Elections: Primaries Upcoming

Primaries for local races all over the state are only a week away. Here is a list of the primaries for mayor and town council/bd. of selectmen/bd. of aldermen that I know about. If there are others out there, or you can fill in some of the gaps in this list, let me know.

    Thanks for taking the time to assemble such a comprehensive list! Why doesn't someone official - like the Secretary of State do this? Municipal elections are the responsibility of municipal officials, but it's a sad state of affairs when only a blogger is keeping track of them!

    By the way, the Chair of the Old Saybrook Town Committee, which chose to endorse a challenger over the incumbent Democrat for first selectman, publicly takes the incumbent to task on their Web site for selling out to Republicans. Unusual.

    I wish the SOTS would make such a list available. Of course, she's been busy lately...

    These municipal primaries can get very passionate. In a lot of towns (like New Haven and Waterbury) they determine who will lead the government more than the November election, since one party controls the town or city by a wide margin. A lot of harsh words are being exchanged in Canterbury of all places, too.
