Lieberman-Lamont-Schlesinger Debate Open Thread

Someone, somewhere, apparently had the bright idea of having a U.S. Senate debate in the middle of the afternoon, when most people are at work. Brilliant.

You can watch the debate live on NBC 30 (WVIT), or in streaming video on the web at the NBC 30 website, starting at 1pm.

Our own CGG will be checking in from the debate in Stamford to give us an idea of what's going on there (check the comments section of this post). If you miss it, the debate will be re-run at 7pm on NBC 30.

You can put your own thoughts here, too.

In the meantime, here are some pictures CGG has sent of the scene outside the Stamford Marriott. Click on a picture for a clearer view.

  3. NBC 30 video stream is dead. No live audio anywhere? Not on NPR, not on CT Network. Ugh.

  11. Gameplans:

Lamont = "Lieberman = Bush. Any questions?"

Lieberman = "Lamont is lying about me. Isn't that mean?"

Schlesinger = "Pull pin. Throw grenade. Repeat."

    Go Alan!!!

  12. it's ironic...after I dropped a friend off at the rally this morning I noted the ramp to I 95 north was lined with groups of day labor guys waiting to get asked to work by contractors-- a pickup truck with ladders stopped and the guy was talking to some of them...wonder how manby of them have legit papers? wonder who Alan thinks is going to work for the kind of wages they are getting after he rounds 'em all up and sends 'em back?

I rarely agree with turfgrrl, but she did a good, fair, and detailed job. You are obnoxious.

  16. Kevin Rennie to say Lieberman won the debate is a repbulican hack job. We all know that this debate was not about losing or winning, but that if Schliesinger puts on a great show Ned Lamont will win. Joe Lieberman came off as a whiner and a blinking mad man. He even pointed at both Schlesinger and Lamont at the time as if he was at a gun show. Lamont ended the debate was his best statement while Lieberman got cut off for rambling over the time limit. Lieberman broke the rules of the debate again.

  17. This from the Lamont campaign blog:

All in all, it seems most people here at the hall believe Schlesinger defeated Joe for the Republican nomination while Ned spoke directly to the people of Connecticut.

  18. Lamont propping up Alan Schlesinger...what a sight.

It's like the Red Sox trying to help the Devil Rays beat the Yankees

  19. When it was all said and done the clear winner was AS. I think alot of Republicans are going to feel ashamed for backing joe after seenig that had a real shot with a good candidate and shot themselves in the foot.

  20. It's shameful that channel 30 used Rennie as an "impartial" commentator.
