Larson May Take Larger Role

Courant:
Larson, who cruised to a fifth term Tuesday in the 1st Congressional District by beating Republican Scott MacLean of Hartland, could become the leader of the House Democratic Caucus if Chairman James Clyburn of South Carolina moves on to majority whip.

Larson said he would happily accept the new leadership role, which would make him the fourth-highest-ranking member in the House.

Larson stays as Vice-Chair as DCCC Chair Rahm Emanuel becomes Chair. Given the election results, who can complain?

I heard inside word that Emanuel could be looking at running for Majority Whip. This could turn things on thier head if that's the case.

Everyone is wrong. Including the Hartford Courant. Leadership will go as Follows:
Speaker: Pelosi
Majority Leader: Hoyer/Murtha
Whip: Clyburn
Caucus Chair: Rahm Emanuel
Caucus Vice: John B. Larson

Thank you for reading.

No, Rahm declined Majority Whip (which would have been a big fight). He'll be caucus leader, and Larson is his choice as deputy. No one can say that Rahm hasn't earned it.

I think the jury is still out on Emanuel, but we can agree to disagree on that.

Anon 10:44...

Look for Murtha to put up a small fight, and then pullout of the race to resume his major powerbroker roll in the House. Hoyer will de Maj. Leader.
