I would expect better than this from CTLP. One of the things I have always liked here is the thoughtful postings on the main page...this is not one of them. This is a blatant plug for a campaign event that I hoped we would never see on the main page.

Genghis-

I hope you put a stop to this in the future, regardless of what camapaign/party it comes from.

GC - I agree with Anon. 9:36. Please don't stoop to the level of some of the other blogs. Of course, someone can post this information in the comments section, but it has no place as an original post in my opinion.

It was informational, not an advertisement. I post the events that I know about that sound interesting - to me a potential presidential candidate stumping for a Senate candidate is interesting.

And if it was an interesting event for Rell or Lieberman would you do the same Gabe?

Of course not. Posting it in the comments section is one thing, on the front page is another.

Gabe said...

I would, of course. Since I have stopped receiving press releases from the Lieberman campaign, its unlikely that it will happen. As soon as Rell has an event with someone of a national stature (also unlikely since she has a margin that my house fits in), I will post it (if I don't get beat by my Right of Center fellow posters)...

When we see where Jodi's going to be today too, then the above will have some credibility.

Looks like a blatant plug to me too.

>>John Edwards is newsworthy in the same way

Isn't he that guy on TV that claims he can talk to the dead?

Yeah Gabe, don't let these foolish people prevent you from posting stuff like this in the future.

A national figure such a John Edwards coming to CT to campaign for a candidate certainly is worthy of being posted on the site. It is informative.

I'm sure that when Tom Delay or any other nationally-known Republican leaders comes to campaign for Lieberman, that will be posted here too.

I don't see it as biased at all. It's informative, and I appreciate these kinds of posts.

ACR - When Jodi Rell is campaigning with a once and future presidential candidate, I am sure it will be posted... Or a psychic that can talk to the dead...

I don't think she and Foley get along.

I have no probem with posting who's coming here to campaign for whom. This was the first I'd heard that Edwards was coming. And since I don't support Lamont and since New Haven is about an hour away, I don't think I'll attend. But I'm not upset to find out what's going on.

D_R - You will be getting analysis out of your ears after CGG and I get through with it. And pictures and, dare to dream, video...

David said...

So all posts now require analysis and opinion so that it won't be considered biased?

LOL.

That sounds like the Fox News theory.

TG--
Pathetic. If I were a Republican, I'd be making every last effort to win that Senate seat. Alan
Gold could have been chased out weeks ago.

Obviously Lierberman cut some sort of deal. I'm just surprised real gentlemanly Repulicans like yourself tolerate such wankery.

owe the people of CT an apology for not putting up a candidate...

Most of us were pretty happy just to get rid of the other guy.

Alan seemed okay and he's good on his feet, or seemed so.

Jodi's made it pretty clear that he was never her choice which some of us (certainly me) took as he objection to a key member of Alan's staff.

Since then I've made privy to other issues (that Hartford Courant is now sitting on); and it's clear now that I should've moved heaven and earth to drag Dick Bozzuto back into politics and into the race.

Had I done that (I don't know that I could have) Dick would be the next senator from CT.

Money wouldn't have been an issue, there's probably around 8000 Republicans left standing here in CT that remain royally ticked off at the way the man was treated in the 80's by the Weicker crowd (read:"scum of the earth".)

Those same old-line old-guard Bozzuto-people would work like they were possessed to get the man elected.

No question about it, we blew an opportunity that has now turned into the perfect storm.

Tougher than you think.

Ever try to get rid of crabgrass once it's growing?

Next to impossible; gotta get it with a pre-emergent before it sprouts.

bluecoat - Should we have nominated someone who was not at the convention and had not expressed any interest in running? Who did you want to be nominated? Why didn't you run, you have run for office before, haven't you?

I wanted to see Kevin O'Connor nominated.

So you said on the phone.

As for Senator Lieberman cutting some sort of deal with the CTGOP

It was him not us.

Don't be Suprised,

ACR freely admits being a Member of the Republican State Central Comittee during John Rowlands Reign and that he Defending John Rowland to the end.

The Republican Party in Ct. is Just like Ct. For Lieberman Party in that the word Cult fits better than Party.

Seems like this month is a perfect opportunity for the CT Republican party to build their bench, much in the way that they did when Kevin O'Connor ran against John Larson as a 31 year old lawyer. The opportunity awaits a young republican in the state eager to get the message out as to why he or she is a republican in this state anyway. Take the place of Schlessinger. What is the point of the existence of the CT Republican party otherwise when their current candidate for US Senate is not even polling in double digits? And the registered Republicans are supporting an ousted Democratic Senator on an ego trip because he's never held a real job in his life and is unwilling to let the will of the CT Democratic voters stand? Great opportunity for a young Republican to seize the moment and build some great statewide name recognition.

That Alan's a smart guy. Why pay in untraceable cash, when you can rack up frequent flyer miles! Who wouldn't want this brain in the U.S. Senate?
