Ann Coulter wouldn't run, she's for Lieberman.

Ann Coulter? Really? Wow.

That would cause everyone's head to explode.

TG,

Yet you have to admit, he'd probably get a lot of votes.

At least more than Schlesinger

For Joe's sake, Alan Gold should stay in the race, which would be the best strategery around.

I don't see how anyone could support Rowland, but there are people who would. He could run as the candidate who "learned from his mistakes" and "paid his debt," and I bet he'd get 30% or more.

Scary, but probably true.

In order for the Repubs to dump Joe, they needed a viable candidate--aside from Jodi--their ain't one.

GC--

Really, you lower yourself to include Rowland in the poll. It was one thing to include him in the other thread -- I have a sense of humor, too....

Why don't you add Lowell Weicker, or Stew McKinney -- because that won't happen either, of course.

For starters, he probably doesn't have his voting rights restored yet, which would make him unable to qualify.

But really....

I'd like to see Schlesinger run and spoil Lieberman among Republicans. But if the latest Rasmussen numbers are right, there's no chance; Lieberman outpolls Schlesinger by miles among Repubs.

How about Gary Franks or Robert Steele?

ORCHULLI !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does it bother anyone else that there is someone out there blogging as Joe Lieberman? The way he has the profile set up, you'd swear it was him until you look at his blog.

brubenstein should call the FBI on this guy...except he's a Lamonthead too.

To replace Alan Gold you might consider Themis Klarides...she im afraid would be a real bust.

My bucks are on Phil Steele, Bob Steele's brother.

Many people believe the Republicans have cut a deal with Lieberman, and don't want to run a viable candidate. Frankly, this makes no sense to me. If Joe goes through with his threatened Indy run, the damage gets done to the Democratic ticket, no matter what the Republicans do.

Personally, I'm sure Liddy Dole is doing everything she can to get Schlesinger to drop out, and a viable Republican candidate up and running. In a three-way race, this could easily go the Republicans way.

However, I don't think we'll see any changes made until after August 9th. The Republicans' new candidate will depend on whether Lieberman wins or loses, and on whether he actually turns in signatures. (if it's a three-way race we'll get a candidate that appeals strongly to the R base. If it's just a two-way race, we'll see someone much more moderate.)

The only way AS will drop out is if he can get a new wampum card..

I disagree with replacing AS with Themis Klarides...she would be a big bust.

I dont see Alan Schlesinger stepping aside.

He is holding the Grand Opening of his campaign headquarters tommorow in Shelton.

Anonymous said...

Bluecoat..the candidate wavered and dropped out just before the announcement was going to happen and she then found herself stuck with AS ..and all the while she and others were pressuring AS to leave the race...

Anonymous said...

Any truth to the rumor that Orchulli will be a waiter at the grand opening of AS's campaign and that there will be gambling in the back of the office?

Weicker Liker said...

I have been saying he would be pressured to bow out by the state Republicans. I saw it coming months ago, as you pointed out.

I didn't count on him being so stubborn.

He really is a schmuck.

Themis Klarides would be a better US Senator than Ned Lamont ever will be if he buys the seat. But I dont think Schlesinger is getting out of the race Because he isnt a big fan of Rell or her former Boss Johnny Boy Rowland.

Anonymous said...

Klarides has coasted on looks and papa's fortune alone and the Dems, for some strange reason ;), haven't challenged her. She hasn't demonstrated leadership in the House, and I don't recall anytime an undecided legislator has asked "Hey, how's Themis voting?"

She's a political lightweight with heavyweight connections.

GC - Interesting poll, although I bet there are Ds and Us voting and not just Rs. Nice to know that AS is losing to almost everyone; and that JGR still has a strong following here in CT.

Let's be honest here Anon. 6:37 - AS is probably the only R on the list that your man Orchulli could actually do better than. He had his shot. He is a nice guy, but a pretty weak candidate. And, yes, before you defend him, I know how many votes he got last time - any R would have done the same!

I think McKinney or Ward would be the best candidates to rep;ace Gold. Although I respect Aniskovich, he's got a lot of baggage, as has been pointed out. Both McKinney and Ward are tried and true family men who are articulate, passionate and principled. They are both boy scouts, which should play well in this race.
