When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

One of the signers of that declaration was Samuel Huntington of Connecticut. The other signers from Connecticut were Roger Sherman, Oliver Wolcott and William Williams.

Huntington is not a well-known Founding Father, but he not only signed the Declaration of Independence, but served as president of the Continental Congress from 1779-81 and, later, as a popular governor of Connecticut (1786-96).

Because the Articles of Confederation went into effect during Huntington's term as president, some have called him the first president of the United States. This is a matter of some debate, of course. What is undeniable is that Huntington was a great patriot who served both his state and his country well. As president, Huntington oversaw some of the darkest days of the Revolutionary War, and as governor of Connecticut he helped the state to ratify the Constitution.

So here's to Samuel Huntington, a great Nutmegger and a great American.

Republicans, well aware of Joe's 85% ++ liberal rating have been able to stomach him for years due to the fact that many of us are impressed by his level of faith; his perceived integrity (can you imagine him cheating on his wife?) and most of us tend to be military hawks.

That's it.

We consider him to be a real Democrat.

For someone to politically left flank him would require a real save the whales, tin-foil hat, leftist loon.

Looks to this moderate New England Republican like that's exactly who they've found.

That Weicker and D`Amore are involved pretty much cinches it too.

Another Lieberman event blows up in Joe's face today

Oh man, the reports are still coming in right now but it seems like Joe had his ass handed to him in Stamford today.

I thought Joe Biden's "no-show" was the highlight of the event...WOW, was I wrong.

Now, I'll get the full-rundown soon, but here are some brief highlights:

* Lieberman snuck in the back door rather than face the couple of people outside with anti-Joe Message signs (one sign said Comit or quit, the other mocked Joe's high approval among Republicans adn I hear that particular sign really got under the Lieberyouth's skin).

* Only 20-25 people showed for the event. There were more Lieberyouth (at least 30) than guests (so sad).

* A fellow blogger asked Lieberman's political director Ken Dagliere if he wanted to give my friend a copy of his resume to deliver to Lamont. I dont' Ken was too pleased with that question...

* Lieberman's staffers were trying to sell the story that Biden missed the train because he returned late from IRAQ. Two things pop into mind when they offered that lame excuse:

1.) When did Biden get back from Iraq (can someone out there get me this info on when Joe flew back into the states). I'd be surprised if he just came back Sunday BUT if he did (fat chance), why didn't he just fly to Kennedy Airport (as opposed to D.C.) and stay in the area overnight.

2.) If Biden did go to D.C. why didn't he just catch the next train since it runs every 45 mins.

* Reporters from Stamford Advocate, New York Times, and all several television stations were present and caught Lieberman in a "uncomfortable" moment as he was grilled by an Irish-American woman who was able to get into the event (she'll have a posting on her encounter later).

I promise to give you more as I get more info but it's safe to say that team Joementum bombed yet again. Also, be sure to catch the 5 and o'clock news as I'm sure they'll have something to say about the whole thing.

Joe Lieberman's campaign...the gift that keeps on giving.

Say it ain't so Joe, you missed the train

Oh, how nice.

Just got word from my sources on the scene in Stamford that the Lieberyouth are telling people that Joe "7-Eleven" Biden will not be showing up to campaign for Joe Lieberman today. Biden was suppose to stump for his buddy today at the Tigin Irish Pub but it seems that Indian-American's favorite Democrat missed his train.

I can't wait to hear Barbara Boxer's excuse...
