Nomination Melee in Bristol

(hat tip to The Architect for bringing this to my attention!)

Bristol Democrats nominated former mayor Frank Nicastro over incumbent State Representative Kosta Diamantis as their candidate for the 79th House District--but not before a fierce fight.

No, literally. There was a fight.
Within minutes of closing its nominating convention at City Hall, supporters of state Rep. Kosta Diamantis and city Councilor Frank Nicastro clashed in the hallway outside the council chambers.

After shouting, pushing and at least one injury to an elderly party loyalist, eight police officers converged on the meeting to restore order and try to figure out who did what to who.

The only certainty is that Marie Pasquale, a popular figure in the party, wound up sitting against a wall with a large bag of ice held to the right side of her head.

"You knocked over an old lady," screamed Mayra Berrios Sampson, a former party chair.
...
Mike Petosa, another party activist, said he tried to stop Busto, a Nicastro supporter, from attacking Dominic Pasquale, who backed Diamantis.

"He went like a maniac," Pasquale said, and tried to punch him in his rage.

Busto grabbed Dominic Pasquale’s glasses and threw them across a crowded room, according to Petosa and Pasquale. (Collins)

The first rule of Democratic nominating conventions? You don't talk about Democratic nominating conventions.

Diamantis will challenge Nicastro in a primary, or maybe they'll settle this with a rumble downtown.

Never let facts get in the way of a good story huh?

As Sam attempted to bail Waterbury out of it's mess with all his might Rowland didn't even return his calls.

Sam is and always has been as straight as a Nevada highway; and everyone save for you apparently is already aware of that.

You really don't want to go down the road as far as a CHARACTER is concerned especially considering the other candidate involved. In fact before you embarrass yourself any further it might be smart to chat privately with a few Southington Democrats regarding their candidate.

But hey! Suit yourself. They could've made it into a real race and nominated Corky (D-80th) but would the Southington Dems do that? Noooooooooooooooo.

With any luck he'll take Jodi's instead.

This might get interesting;

Masullo mulls primary

Miriam Masullo filed her certification of primary at 12:14 PM today for a Republican Primary in the 1st CD.

Interesting, since she told the Hartford Courant that she would not Primary and believed in Party Unity.

From Hartford Courant.....

Masullo said she would not challenge MacLean in a primary.

"I believe in party unity," she said.

Interesting seeing as I posted this at 12:41 while still speaking to her as she called to tell me that she was on her way to file. In fact she didn't file until well after 1:00pm.

You might want to get new sources.

"Party unity" would only apply to other Republicans by the way; and carpetbagging MacLean (he's no Connecticut boy) simply fails to pass that test at any level. (ie: MacLean registered as a Republican less than a year ago and after he had already sent an email to every member of GOP state central in the 1st)

You might call the SOS office in Hartford.

The Elections Officer that I spoke to read the time to me that was STAMPED on the document.

He said 12:14 PM.

Check your sources.

Also, Miriam Masullo has no claim to the 1st CD. At least MacLean works for a company that is in the District, pays taxes in the 1st CD and supports his family in the 1st CD.

The carpetbagger here is Miriam Masullo. She should be running in her own CD.

Now that Miriam has filed there's no need to keep the gloves on.

This guy's a REPUBLICAN??

Just hope you can keep this race about the issues rather than getting personal.

I have it on good information that someone matching the description of a member of the CT State Central Committee was stalking MacLean & his family.

State Police were called. Arrests might be made.

I hope this race does not get ugly. It will reflect poorly on Miriam Masullo, who was involved with some pretty sordid characters in 2002.

Miriam Masullo raised a family in CT, has all her roots in CT, paid taxes in CT for 25 years and has served the people of CT through her work and volunteer work.

Who cares more about CT?

MacLean’s nothing but an opportunist who came to Connecticut around 2 years ago and didn’t register to vote until after sending out his first email to members of Republican State Central.

We don't need "reform Republicans" apologizing for America, the Democrats, Greens, CPUSA are doing that already. We need to protect and defend America.

What's truely scary is that MacLean's actively engaged with a group that finds themselves more in line than not with this guy
!

Even Larson has never said anything like: “I am in favor of enacting handgun control ...." However that's exactly what he did say in a now well circulated email to a member of GOP state central.

Masullo was a carpetbagger in 2002. You know she has no claim to the 1st CD.

Read Michelle Jacklin's column she wrote about the Steele-Masullo Primary in 2002.

Also, lets talk about the kind of sordid people that Masullo has aligned herself with.

Angel Morales, who hijacked a Connecicut Hispanic Republican group in 2002 with Masullo, and tried to force John Rowland to endorse hispanic candidates. I hear Morales just got out of jail.

Also, what one of your associates went up to Hartland the other day and stalked MacLean's family? You did not answer that charge.

My goodness, how dramatic.

In fact an Authentic Connecticut Republican drove to East Hartland to see if in fact MacLean even lived there.

Not too over the edge considering his phone number comes back with this address.

Coupled with the fact that he's registered to vote at this address.

We know nothing of this man save for he registered to vote Sept. 6th as a Republican; and not even at the right address!!

Google Miriam and take a look for yourself.

Meanwhile here's what Scott MacLean gets you.

Any authentic Republican would be suspicious.

By the way; just as a bit of information - I was a delegate for Prescott Bush Jr. in 1982 and had no problem voting for Leiberman in 1988.

Certain members of the party who now, thankfully are largely among the missing; pretty much slamed Morales down the throat of that campaign.

That you're even aware of it makes me wonder if you might be among those individuals.

I would seriously doubt that anyone would want the emails Miriam has saved from that era to see the light of day.

I'm sure the emails she saved would be interesting reading.

She should release all of them.

I doubt Angel Morales was forced down her throat by anyone.

Bring the emails on.

You should have taken your investigation one step further.

If you call the Assessor in the Town of Simsbury, the address that came up for Scott MacLean is not in their land records.

Makes me wonder how this address came up with this telephone number in the first place???

Plus, Green Valley Road (Simsbury) and Granville Road (Hartland Address) are similiar.
